CHAMPAIGN-URBANA, IL (AP)- In a move that both shocked and stunned fellow film critics and convention goers alike, Roger Ebert announced that he will be screening Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen at his annual Overlooked Film Festival this year. When asked about having the critically panned blockbuster at the festival, the Chicago Sun-Times movie reviewer commented: “This movie should have failed many times over, but yet it somehow succeeded!!! I wanted to ask [director] Michael Bay how in the Hell this happened, but the only way I could get him over here is to actually show this stinkburger of a show. Unfortunately, I realize that, by screening the film here, that I am contributing to its success. But I will make it up to everyone after the show.” Following the show will be a “Question-and-Answer” screaming match between Director Michael Bay and New York film critic Jay Sherman, possibly evolving into all-out war between film directors and critics, depending on who will direct that as well. This is not the only controversial decision that Roger Ebert Has made for his Film Festival. Within recent years, he has hosted a concert by the Insane Clown Posse, complete with mosh pit, annual bungee jumping contests (of which Mr Ebert has won the last three years), and selling bootleg copies of Orson Welles commercial out takes out of the trunk of his car.
Other films being shown at the Film Festival will include: How It’s Made: The Story of Making Anvils, the provocative French thriller, My Trapper, My Keeper, and S.O.L.’s Legends of Rock: The Band That Played California Lady.

Yeah. And April Fools day to you too. Hell, it's not even midnight here yet. Couldn't show a tiny bit of restraint, could you?

How do you have (and for that matter, win) a bungee jumping contest?

Gather a group of people together, tie them up with an elastic rope type material thingy, and throw them over a steep edge to see who survives? You got me?

Not that the cinema-goer is to be blamed for his poor taste - life doesn't give us all the same opportunities for developing our aesthetic perceptions. That's where the real difficulty lies. - Andrei Tarkovsky I like your Tarkovsky quote. You know that part in Solaris where he filmed the extended japanese expressway sequence - he said later that he hoped it would bore the Soviet censors and they would stop watching. Yet it is one of my favorite parts of the film - so serene and visually interesting; I like the sound effects.

Most American critics think that's the weakest point of the film. I think they miss the whole point of the scene, and that it shows Burton's state of mind at the time. His trip home is a long one. Roger Ebert has this on his great movies list, as it should be.

I saw Ebert on TV and God...he looks awful.
He should retire if he can't speak.

What does speaking have to do with a newspaper column?
