I agree that Mighty Jack gets better on repeated viewings. Once you figure out who's who, it's really not that bad. From a technical standpoint, it's far better than other films in the MST catalog. It has good effects and some nice action, too.
I think Fu Manchu is also better than the treatment it's getting in this thread. I think we all just remember it as being worse than it was because of the crying and whining from Joel & the 'bots. It also had decent effects (that it stole from other films, but still...), and even some decent acting. The print was terrible, and the plot was convoluted, but there were worse movies.
The more I think about it, the more I'm convinced that Coleman Francis should be running away with this topic. Bleak landscapes. No plot. Indistinguishable characters. No audio-synch. No soundtrack. Nothing even remotely resembling acting. The camera is consistently not on the character speaking. From both a technical and watchable standpoint, I think all of the C.F. films deserve this award.
"Runnin' down the road tryin' to loosen my load I got Coleman Francis on my mind."

I voted for Monster a Go-Go. Like others have said, for me it's all about how forgettable the movie is. Hobgoblins is despicable, but it sticks in your mind, even if only so you can look back on it and think, "God, that movie was horrible". Monster a Go-Go makes me feel tired and headachy just to think about.

The Beast of Yucca Flats. At least Manos and Hobgoblins had something that resembled a plot. All Beast had was Tor Johnson wandering around the most bleak landscape imaginable.

I think Beast of Yucca Flats is terrible yet watchable and I feel the same for Monster a-Go-Go. Manos on the other hand, I can't watch it, I just can't. I tried but it's just such a mess.
It's not the acting, it's not the story, it's not the cinematography and it's not the score. I've seen worse cases of each and I could say something positive about Manos in each one of these categories.
For example, I like that shot of Torgo on the step while the sun is setting: "There is no way out of here." That's telling us how it is, Torgo. He looks so lost and alone, it's almost good...
It's about five seconds of film and if Manos was only judged on this five seconds then it would be the match of every other film ever made.
Where Manos falls apart is in the heading of "Directing" and "Editing". Looking back at my previous example, this scene fails in the movie because the editor/director decides to have the actor repeat the line. "There is no way out of here, It'll be dark soon. There is no way out of here."
In short, Manos is so soul crushing because it negates its own positives and then makes them into negatives without even trying.

I went with other: Hamlet and although I am not the biggest Shakespeare fan I have studied quite a few of his plays in depth as my major dictated(English/Education) and that version is an atrocity that should never be watched...not even as a joke.
If I had to choose from the choices given I would have went with Monster A Go Go

Invasion of the Neptune men. Ye gods that movie was awful, true it had a plot, and even some "action" but the kids are so obnoxious and the sky battle scenes so repetitive that I can never make it through the movie.

For me it, it's Hobgoblins, hands down. I know loyal MSTies are very familiar with the different varieties of bad movie-making: movies with terrible production values, or incomprehensible scripts, bad acting, terrible continuity, etc, etc. For example, Monster A Go-Go may be the most inept film I've ever seen, but ineptitude doesn't always translate into overall 'worst.' I know that the actual technical details of Hobgoblins are relatively decent compared to some of the other crap featured on MST (that is, in general, you can see and hear everything and there is something resembling a plot in Hobgoblins), but somehow this actually makes the movie worse as it implies that there were people with knowledge and training who knowingly put this thing out there fore the masses. Furthermore, the movie fails on just about ever other traditional level with appalling acting and story-telling and simply perverse themes. The blatant misogyny sure as hell didn't help matters, and as previously stated, you just knew that the director hated his audience and his contempt for them is palpable. But Hobgoblins also has that certain je ne sais quoi to it that makes my skin crawl with each and every viewing. The guys riffing on this thing really is more of a protective barrier for the viewer than anything else, and though I enjoy the episode, I rarely look at MST as a safety measure for hurtful movies. Damn you, Rick Sloan. Damn you.

Castle of Fu Manchu.. I do agree that it's awful; I can't make myself like it.
I have a friend who's a very very casual fan of MST, to the point where he didn't tape it, or purchase any videos or DVDs, but likes the characters, the premise, and has watched many episodes with me over the years, even first-run for seasons 2-7. But, he's not watched any episodes in probably 5 years now. However, if asked, he will instantly identify Mighty Jack as the Worst.Episode.Ever! It's that bad.
I've given MJ about 5 run-thru's, and it just won't grow on me.

I probably not seen enough to reply but most MST3K movies at least have a cheesy monster or zainy premise to keep my interest. But Starfighters is the MOST dull movie I have ever seen. I mean nothing happens! unless you consider jets refueling as something. It doesnt even fit into the MST3K theme! The riffing is funny enough but it still couldnt float the rest of the episode.

After all that, you come up with "Starfighters"? And not only that, but are basing your opinion solely on the riffed versions of these movies? That, I would think, would make Starfighters fare even better, since the riffing is quite good, in my opinion.
But even the protracted refueling scenes in Starfighters have got to be better than the endless heaps of nothing that make up "Monster A-Go-Go" (my personal choice for worst movie) or "Creeping Terror." Beyond the sheer boredom, those movies are just suicide-inducing with every frame. They're not even black & white, for crying out loud! They're "grey & slightly darker grey"
Then again, all of the movies mentioned so far are in the same ballpark as Citizen Kane once "Santa Claus and the Ice Cream Bunny" is factored in. May we all thank god that abomination never made it to MST3K.

I've never understood the "nothing happens" complaints about The Starfighters. I mean it's got real actual fighter jets flying around in numerous scenes, which puts it well above most MST movies on the interesting scale. And it's actual realistic flying, not the over-the-top cheese that you see in a very similar film, Top Gun. And there is an actual plot, even though it's extremely poorly acted. And some actual real characterization, though once again it's poorly done.
Really, it is nothing but a low budget Top Gun with a more believable lead actor and a cooler soundtrack, though Top Gun has a much better supporting cast.
