As for synch problems with Robot Monster - mine matches up to perfection. I don't know if this is the case with you eegah, but I've have had intermittent synch problems in the past on DVDs - I just cleaned the player and that cleared right up. Thing is, I saw sync problems on two different players. Did you look at the last host segment? That's the only place I really noticed it.

Yup, the very last one and the one before it just in case - played it through my DVD and Blu-Ray player and the mouths match the dialog, all the bells and whistles are right where they are supposed to be. And believe me, I'm a picky little bitch, I'd have noticed it. Or maybe my ears are out of synch and it just seems normal, I dunno. has anyone else noticed a sound problem there?

You can add Shout Factory's reissue of Beginning of the End to the list. Lots of those ugly tape hit errors in this new release. edit: I think somebody was wondering how I got the DVD early. Shout apparently sent out the pre-orders this week and I got it in this morning.

I recieved both Beginning of the End and Incredibly Strange Creatures Ect. in the mail yesterday. I watched Beginning all the way through and a bit of Incredibly Strange Creatures Ect.
I did notice some glitches during the Invention Exchange, but other than that I really didn't see anything else that was obvious or intrusive. It's not on the level of the glitches that showed up in Beast of Yucca Flats IMO.
Didn't see anything wrong with Strange Creatures, looked to be in pristine shape to me.

So then, "lots" means "only a few?"

Yeah, we've got 2 very different reports about the video quality of BotE. A few more impressions would be good.

I'm not looking for tape hits and stuff when Im watching an episode. If something pops up that is distracting enough I notice it. It has to be something on the level of the problems the DVD releases of Lost Continent and The Dead Talk Back have to distract from my enjoyment of an episode.
Let's see what other people who have bought BotE say.

So then, "lots" means "only a few?" I noticed one glitch every 20 or 30 seconds in the early part of the new Beginning of the End DVD. It does lighten up after that, but they're pretty heavy up until the start of the movie. To me its distracting and a downgrade from the earlier release.

These are the only MST releases that I have not purchased. I have both. Based on what I read here I'd say they are not an improvement of the Rhino DVDs.

Even if I wanted to buy them, I can't. Shout doesn't ship outside of the US. But if these have more of those "glitches" we saw on some of the other recent releases, I don't really care to own them anyway.

They were willing to ship to Canada, albeit for a whole lot of money.

I hope nobody minds me bumping this topic, but I feel the need to add to it. I'm a pretty new fan of the show and have been trying to obtain the best possible copies of each episode that I can. Due to the earliest releases having gone out of print, I've picked up most of the Shout Select re-issues to cover for some of them and I can confirm that nearly all of them have restored much of the missing material from the older releases: 320 - The Unearthly: The "Turn Down Your Lights" sign is intact and the entire episode looks just fine. 424 - Manos the Hands of Fate: The 2-disc re-issue restores the "Show 424, Reel 1" title card and all the missing bumpers. I believe there are some tape hits present on this version that weren't on the previous two releases, but it isn't too distracting as far as I'm concerned. 511 - Gunslinger: I haven't watched this one all the way through yet, but the Shout re-issue restores the "Show 511, Reel 1" title card. I believe there were also some bumpers cut on the old release on Vol. 6 (which I own), and I assume these have all been restored as well. 515 - The Wild World of Batwoman: This isn't supposed to be out until this Tuesday but Shout has already begun shipping this and their re-issue of Girl in Gold Boots. Unfortunately, it doesn't appear as if anything has been restored for this release (I haven't watched this one all the way through yet either). The "Show 515, Reel 1" title card is still missing and I skipped ahead a bit and it looks like the bumpers are still missing as well. So this one doesn't appear to be any different from the old release from Rhino save for it's packaging. I'm guessing either Shout slipped up on this one or perhaps Jim Mallon doesn't have a good copy of the uncut episode anymore and this was their only alternative? 517 - Beginning of the End: Despite some tape hits being present that weren't on the old release (there's one or two that I recall being pretty bad on the new one), all of the bumpers have been restored. 518 - The Atomic Brain: The original release on Vol. 3 was pretty well known for missing it's stinger. Right before this one was re-released, Shout confirmed that it would finally be intact. Not only did they restore the stinger, but the "Show 518, Reel 1" title card and all of the missing bumpers have been restored as well. 619 - Red Zone Cuba: I'm actually not sure if there was anything missing from the original release. I know they stopped using those title cards before Season 5 ended, and the only thing I can imagine being missing from the Rhino single are some of the bumpers. The Shout re-issue has everything intact. There's some tape hits that may or may not have been present on the Rhino single, but I don't consider them too distracting. Can anybody who has the Rhino single tell me if it's fine?

I've lurked a little around here and this thread has been a useful tool to me, so I thought that now that I had something to add to it I should contribute.
I hope nobody minds the bump.
The Shout reissue of volume 6 does not have the "Reel 1" opening for any of the three episodes, including "The Gunslinger" which was previously reported as fixed on the solo release. If there is anything else to look for as missing, let me know. I haven't watched the episodes yet, so I can't report on glitchiness.

The Rhino version of Mr. B Natural is missing a small bit. The full length, Mr. B says "That's the first big step, boy. To really want it!" The last sentence is cut from the dvd for some reason, no riffing lost.
