Well, "Snow Thrills," yes. I'll be amazed if we even see the Un-MSTied version of IT CONQUERED THE WORLD on home video disc anytime soon. INVASION U.S.A. still seems extremely likely though (I believe it's PD).

Makes sense, but why put them on DVD? Lack of additional material? Fans have asked for additional shorts but why one that was already released a long ways back? I believe you're right I just wonder why.

Yeah, I thought it was an odd choice too. Maybe they're putting them on there for the more casual buyer?

Interesting note:

Two of my videos on Youtube received copyright notices. Both matched 3rd party rights from Shout! Factory, LLC.

One of them is Lost Continent, which Shout! released.

The other?

City Limits.

Food for thought...

Shout owns the rights to all the episodes, which are completely separate from the rights to the movie rights. Whether they choose to enforce it or not, you are technically violating their rights no matter what episode you post.

I wonder if BBI ever filmed "World Without End" from their live show? If they did could it ever be released by Shout! just a thought. The fan copy I have only has half of the movie and the sound quality isn't the best. It sure would be nice to have a clean copy to watch. Plus it would be like have a new episode.

Probably because Shout has the rights to MST in general, but that would be really neat if it was a hint that CITY LIMITS was coming soon.

I'd love to see that whole show (I still haven't gotten around to the getting a fan copy yet), but I highly doubt BBI filmed it.

Shout Factory has a lot of Universal 80's horror movies coming out in the fall. Some of these haven't seen a video release since VHS ruled the Earth.

Does this bode well for the future?

You know, I read that awhile ago and didn't think to factor in to the Likelihood list!

Seeing as Shout has begun to at least license some well-known catalog titles for Blu-Ray release, it could very well mean their relationship with Universal is close enough to get some for MST release (may take awhile, but it definitely looks like their foot is in the door). :)

Wow. They actually got some fairly popular titles there.

If nothing else, this seems to be a gateway/foot in the door. Like when Shout released Gamera before the MST set. Knowing Shout, they've at least put MST on the negotiation table while talking to Universal.

Let's hope so. I just glanced at page one of this thread and lots of season 8 episodes are Universal. *Fingers Crossed*

If Shout gets the rights to Universal films, I swear I will faint. Hopefully it'll pave the way to further big studio episodes and Paramount is next on the list, that way they can clear Diabolik, as well as Deadly Bees and Space Children.

On a related note, Universal is releasing the oft referred to "Killdozer" as a MOD disc on Amazon.

Wacky thought occured to me today, if Shout did license the MST films from Universal, does anybody think it's likely they'll release a sepecial edition of the Movie ala Manos? I would be totally sold on that!

I highly doubt it, since Universal already released their crappy bare-bones DVD. I would kill to see the stormshelter sequence and original ending in higher quality than the camcorder bootleg!!! (Not to mention all of the riffing scenes cut out of THIS ISLAND EARTH)

I think the deal Shout has worked out with Universal is so Universal can focus on releasing other titles to BluRay (think of some of the early Goodtimes DVDs of Universal titles), but still make money off some of their classic catalog titles.

Well, it can be noted tha Universal already released a barebones Blu-Ray of Halloween II, yet they're allowing Shout to release a more packed edition. Of course, they might have negotiated it as a part of a pakage that included both Halloween movies. I'm not familiar with the deals so I won't jump the gun.

Just me playing with the possibilites.

A barrier has been broken. Revenge of the Creature will be on XXV!

In fact, the entire set's a game changer. MGM and Warner both have titles on it!
