 Contest January 13-20
« Thread Started on Jan 13, 2008, 2:03pm »

Hey everybody,

Conor here. I work for RiffTrax and found this board a while back. It's been fun lurking and occasionally posting. We do contests all the time at RiffTrax, but I figured we could offer one up for The Discussion Board since some people might not have room in their lives for more than one forum.

Everyone has their idea for what would be a perfect movie to riff, be it one you wish MST3K had done or wish RiffTrax would do. Be it an obscure movie that you saw at 2 AM back in 1982, and could never find record of it actually existing, or just a particularly dreck filled Sandra Bullock film. Well for this contest, I want you to make your case for a movie that deserves riffing...

...in Haiku form! According to wikipedia, "In English, haiku are written as three lines, with a syllable count of five, seven, and five on in the first, second, and third line." So using this fun and limited form, explain why a movie of your choosing deserves the riffing.

Feel free to enter as many times as you like, but please make each entry its own reply. I can't promise that we'll do any of the movies, but it can't hurt to read some suggestions. The one that we enjoy most around RiffTrax HQ is the winner.

Prizes:

1st Prize - $30 RiffTrax Gift Certifcate, Signed Mike Nelson Bobblehead, set of three RiffTrax posters

2nd Prize - $15 RiffTrax Gift Certificate, signed Plan 9 from Outer Space DVD

Third Prize - $10 RiffTrax gift certificate

Nightfall. Deep Hurting.
Plot made Fu Manchu look good.
God-awful acting.

(Can we use only one haiku per movie, or can there be verses?)

Mummi: Nothing. You realize that, right? This isn't a conspiracy. This is a sad little internet thread created by a sad little man. You have broken no taboos by posting here, you have shown no subversive bravery. This thread is about nothing and it has no consequences.

Now let's all just let it die.

Verses are OK, as long as they conform to the format. IMDB Links are appreciated as well, good idea!
