went to robots last night and I must say, seeing the trailer in the theatre makes it look much mo' bettah than downloading the tiny internet version. Still, I totally agree with Slick--see it just to see it.
Personally, my hopes were dashed for prequels the second i heard that annoying little kid that played lil annakin speak. GAWSH he was awful.
All I see when i watch those movies is Lucas standing in the lower corner, mst-esque, pointing at stuff and saying "see how cool Lucasarts is? Listen! Isn't skywalker sound awesome? Aren't my special effects innovations fantastic?"
pff. I wouldn't have cared if they had glued some hair on the 70's puppet of yoda if they'd just have spend the money they saved on some direction for their actors.

Yeah, this one's gonna be good. Who really and truly gives a rat's ass about the "CGI" or "Yoda's not a puppet!". I know I don't. None of that really matter's cause, ummm, IT AIN'T SUPPOSED TO LOOK REAL AND WHATNOT! So, this one should be good, barring any annoying ass characters. The last one was good.

Servo Wouldn't it be great if right before the text "Long ago in a galaxy far,far away" if there was a quick little scene borrowing from MST's opening theme "If you're wondering how they use the force and breath, and other consistency facts, Just repeat to yourselves, it's just a show, I should really just relax"? Of course, there is room to complain when it comes to characters like Jar-Jar. Any character that helps ruin a movie deserves a quick and painful death.

You just said everything that needed to be said. Nothing to add here. DEATH TO JAR-JAR though. Servo

I wouldn't mind if Jar Jar got the "poochie, the rockin' dog" treatment..

Does anyone like Jar Jar? No Not a soul. Lucas must have been on crack when he invented him. I saw the trailer, and it looks great. I like the CGI Yoda... I admit it. Listen, Star Wars is something I've never taken personally. I used to be a huge fan, but even then I still understood that these were meant to be fun movies. I think people don't get mad at what's on the screen in the prequels - more what's NOT on the screen. If you enjoy it for what it is - a goofy space series made for selling action figures - it's great fun. I was just talking about this in another forum. Since I saw the trailer, I've been watching the movies. Yes, they're all meant to be fun. Yes, they're all kind of kids movies. But, Phantom Menace takes the cake. I haven't watched it in over 2 years, and now I remember why. This is a full on kids movie. If it wasn't for Darth Maul's whole 45 seconds in the movie, I would've never even bought the video. The gungans look like they lost a spot on Finding Nemo. Even John William's music sounds like a kids movie. Look at the colorization of the movie. It's done with bright colors, and a lot of vividness. Compare the gungan battle with the battle in Ep2, there's a complete difference in the palette. It's more gritty. Also, the idiotic dialogue coming from the droids. I've never heard of a droid in the Star Wars galaxy saying "Uh", "Uh oh", or anything else like that. I better stop now before I get out of control.

There are so many great riffs you could use on the SW movies.
For the Trade Federation/Senate Maneuvering/midichlorians/decoy queens/Jar-Jar debacle that was The Phantom Menace:
"Uh...could we get a table closer to the plot?" (Joel in Fire Maidens)
For the way, in Attack of the Clones, the cool space fight scenes and clone factory/Obi-Wan subplot kept getting interrupted by the worst-written love story of all time:
"Please remain seated while the movie grinds to a complete stop." (also Joel in Fire Maidens)
I saw Lucas on 60 Minutes the other night, and he was soooo full of himself. The interviewer even asked him point blank if he ever thought the critics (and angry fans) might have a point with their criticisms. His answer? "Well it's just like if I choose to paint my house green, and my neighbor thinks it should be white. Maybe it would look good white, but it's my house and I wanted it green." Yeah that's it George. It's just a matter of opinion, not an accurate measurement of quality. You keep telling yourself that.
"A movie(maker) that takes the bold step of not including the audience." "This movie(maker) hates us, doesn't it?" (Mike and Crow in The Giant Spider Invasion)

I'm glad I'm not the only one that thought that the "romance" scenes in ep2 were stupid and horribly put together. When I was watching it I get the feeling that Padmé sort of despises Anakin at certain points. Then out of nowhere "I truly deeply love you and I don't give a crap that you mercilessly slaughtered a bunch of sand people like cattle and that you're kind of evil". Anyways, when it comes to Jar-Jar's death, I think that this spoof shows a great Jar-Jar death scene and it pokes good fun at stuff in general in the prequels... www.sequentialpictures.com/moviestarwarsepisode3.html
