i found out today i need an assload of dental work. and they say it is cheaper to actually fly to anchorage to have it done, rather than stay in the small town where i now live. that means missing work, a plane ticket and hotel, plus the appointment(s) - uggghhhh

Ugh... that's awful! I mean... I'm glad they know how to do it cheaper, but wow.

My Dad now hates a particular singer just because he twisted the facts of a song based on a true story in order to make a political point. I know this is nothing compared to some posts on here, but I wanted to get it out.

Just learned he's not judging all Woody Gutbrie songs, just "Deportee". Because the crash victims were actually Braceros, aka temporary guest workers. They weren't being deported, they were being provided transportation home as per the rules of the program.

If you can, maybe wait until next year to do it. Of course, if it's something that needs to be done right away, at least there is way to have the work done cheaper. But that sucks, anyway.

Gonna bitch about something meaningless, but is bugging the hell out of me because I'm a nitpicky little bastard.
I ordered copies of the second season of Agents of SHIELD and the first season of Agent Carter through Amazon because they're Amazon exclusive...for the moment...maybe...nobody really knows. These releases have been shrouded in mystery ever since they were announced and for the longest time all we had was a release date. I pre-ordered them, because my Marvel Cinematic Universe collection would be incomplete without them (plus Agent May and Agent Carter are my badass poster girls). These suckers finally get released, and the internet explodes.
Most people are raging on the price. I pre-ordered SHIELD at about $55 and Carter at $35, so the combined total was about $90 for thirty episodes. Sure, Agent Carter is a bit overpriced for eight episodes, but the combined total isn't bad. I'm from the early generation of TV on DVD collectors, back when shows like Star Trek, The X-Files, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer all sold for $100 per season. Price-wise these releases are kind of firmly in between that period in time and today, in which a blu-ray set of a normal season of television costs about $40. Does it kill the wallet? A bit. I'll probably have to hold off on picking up The Flash and Arrow for about a week (which combined will run about the same, but for forty-six episodes instead of thirty). I consider myself lucky I pre-ordered before Amazon (hilariously) jacked up SHIELD's set to $72, which is causing most of the commotion.
But I received the sets yesterday, and I feel like I've been taken advantage of. I can live with the overall lack of special features, after all I payed for the shows themselves in a glorious high definition picture, which is what I received. However in this day and age it is UNFORGIVABLE to put out a television show on physical media without a "Play All" option.
Yes, I'm bitching because I don't have a play all button on my nerd shows.
Seriously, this is not 2001. What excuse is there for this? The first season set of SHIELD had a pretty fancy setup, where you could put profiles in and multiple people could run through the show at their leisure (this was a huge plus when I lived with other people who were fans of the show). But if you wanted to scale down, the second season didn't need to be nearly as fancy. Just that one little button that could have launched all the episodes would have been nice to have.
Say what you will with the way Warner Brothers runs their DC properties, but when it comes to home media they blow what Disney has done with Marvel out of the water. Their discs of the films are often loaded with expansive documentaries, while Disney put out the three highest grossing superhero films of all time (Avengers 1 & 2 and Iron Man 3) and put out discs with throwaway bonus material that lasts about twenty minutes total. Now Disney has seemingly turned their back on the television presentation and just threw two releases out to see who bit. I'm happy to get the shows at all, but I feel like I've been insulted by paying so much for so little.

Just failed my behind-the-wheel driving test. I've had a permit for several years and I'm still not good enough.
