Just saw my postal carrier drive up to my mailbox. She's trying to drive this cumbersome, ancient, stick shift mail truck. In one hand she has a cigarette, in the other, she's talking on her phone. :eyeroll:

I hate when little kids have crying and screaming fits, and then something distracts them and they stop for a minute, then they look at at their mothers or something, and remember: Oh, yeah. I was crying and screaming. Let me get back to that. Then they start up again.
AAAaaaaRRRRrrrGGGGHHHhh.

Welp. The wiper blades on the car won't work.
...and it's raining. And I'm not at home. Or even my home town. And it's just heavy enough that it's potentially dangerous but just light enough that I feel like I'm overreacting.
Guess I'll spend the night at church tonight?
The silver lining is they have Internet that's a lot better than the WiFi at my house.

I would like it if somebody wouldn't send me a picture accusing me of having my head in the sand just because I don't look at my news feed. Ostriches don't even poke their heads in the sand when threatened.

^^^^^^ I think they stick their heads in hollow trees and hop on one foot. Predators are so baffled, they move on.
On to MY complaint: Um - When I order french fries, I just want fries. I don't want weird seasonings or crunchy coatings that give them a strange fuzzy texture and funny taste (I think some places use sugar as a coating or something).
When did plain old french fries fall out of vogue? They're fine just being - fries.
How HARD is it to fry a damn POTATO???!!!!

Over the last two weeks, my laptop broke, which was a pain, especially since it was right at the start of NaNoWriMo.
Then I had to cave, admit that laptops aren't my area of repair expertise. Were it a desktop I could've handled it quickly, but as it is I had to shell out money for a relatively simple job that I just, alas, didn't have the optimal tools for.
I don't begrudge this company for the work... they did it well, promptly, and for about four dollars cheaper than I worried it'd be... but I still had Ron Swanson's voice in my head reminding me that people who pay for things are suckers.

When you go to a grocery store or like Costco or something and they have those dividers so people can separate their purchases from the people in front of them or behind them, I hate when the cashier just puts the divider on the side of themselves instead of pushing it down to where customers can REACH THEM to do the dividing.

Why not? They've owned a galaxy far, far away for a while. Might as well take this one.

Was watching stuff from my Vudu account at lunch today at work. Thought I would finish it at home.
Load times. Five seconds after buffer, more load times.
And people get on my case about having not adopted streaming. First of all, internet is crap here in Idaho, resulting in this load time bull right here. Second, one needs to keep their internet in order to stream, but I don't want to rely on that just to watch a movie in my collection.
Now, I could just lower the resolution to watch the rest of my show uninterrupted. But why should I do that? I have a 4K TV for a reason. I can just pop in a blu-ray or an Ultra disc and not have to deal with this.
Final conclusion: f*** streaming. I'm a physical media boy until none of this is an issue. Yes that means sitting on the Titanic, but I'll manage.

Yes that means sitting on the Titanic, but I'll manage. I resisted streaming for a long time, too. My Internet was not the greatest, but has steadily improved over time. I can't imagine rural South Dakota has internet infrastructure that much better than Idaho, but I guess I can't tell without direct comparison. Once my ISP brought fiber optics in, speeds became stable enough to enjoy good streaming. Good enough that I finally bit the bullet and got a nice 4K Ultra television. It uses a Roku interface, which I liked because I was using a Roku 2 to stream previously. I've only had real streaming problems once - with Vudu streaming Thor: Ragnarok, but they had the problem fixed quickly. What does your television use for streaming interface? I can't say for sure but that could make a difference. The Roku television I have now is way better than the old stand-alone Roku 2 I was using. But I also agree that I like physical media. It's like video games stored in "the cloud." The cloud is another way to say "storing my property on someone else's computer." They go down, all your stuff with them goes down. That crap doesn't happen with physical media. Otherwise, I've become fond of streaming. I use Vudu (awesome quality vid at high res), Sling (my cable dropped AMC a few years ago), PlutoTV, Netflix and even YouTubeRed (worth it for Cobra Kai). In fact, if it weren't for my loyalty to a couple of area sports teams, I would consider dropping cable altogether. Since I don't have an streaming option for either, I'm stuck with cable for the time being.

My streaming device is a Samsung 4K Ultra player. And I've had issues in the past with several streaming platforms on different streaming tools. So far the one that works the best is my phone, which is only useful if I'm at lunch at work.
