My streaming device is a Samsung 4K Ultra player. And I've had issues in the past with several streaming platforms on different streaming tools. So far the one that works the best is my phone, which is only useful if I'm at lunch at work. How well does your phone stream at home? When I got my new television (a few months ago), I had some friends over and was showing them the streaming YouTube app and stuff. One of my friends accidentally connected to the TV and streamed what was on her phone (another YouTube vid) onto the TV screen. The TV picked it up and it streamed smooth and clear. If your phone doesn't have problems at home, maybe try connecting it to your TV if it has that option? Long shot, maybe, but possibly worth a try. I can't test because I have an old crappy Blackberry knockoff that is ancient and does nothing like that

My phone hiccups a bit at the house. There is a bit of a mobile data slowdown around here. The WiFi boosts it, but not by a whole lot.
But even still, I tried linking my phone to my TV but for some reason it doesn't take. It's an older model phone though, and not very loaded with features.
But if I were being honest about my phone, there are a few apps that give me headaches. The CW's app would pick and choose when it actually wanted to do something and lately Hulu has been malfunctioning. I'm a little peeved about the latter because if push came to shove I'd rather have Hulu than Netflix. Netflix has a few shows that I like (MST, Daredevil, Lost in Space), but most of their original content leaves me cold and I find a lot of their back content lacks era diversity. Meanwhile Hulu keeps me updated with shows I like that are on the air but can't watch because of my schedule (Timeless, Gotham, The Simpsons, among others).
But most of the time it's the exact opposite. When I did a free trial of Shudder I could not for the life of me to get that site to work on anything else, not even my laptop. I had to watch what few movies I did on my phone (I picked it up mostly because they had exclusive distribution to Sadako vs. Kayako) and cancel my account.
So yeah, me and streaming don't get along. I'm like Dr. Grant touching that computer in Jurassic Park.

Have I mentioned how much I hate streaming? Because I f***ing hate it.
Just thought I'd give that update on my stance.

My parents just had both of their cars go kaput, and the cost of taking them to the shop was already a major setback. Then yesterday a huge amount of money just vanishes from their bank account, and after digging around for it the reason seemed to be "Yeah, the government's taking some money because of a tax thing that they decided to resolve rather than talk to you about lol."
I'm sure my folks'll be fine, but it sure seems like the financial problems keep gunnin' for 'em. I'd try to help out, but I'm living on a millennial's salary here, which is to say no true salary to speak of beyond the part time jobs that barely handle rent, food, and such.
I just want my parents to win the lottery or something. They've worked way too crazy hard for too much of their lives to have this kind of thing still constantly happening to them.

My laptop cord melted itself into pieces.
Kept me offline for two weeks.
I'm actually pretty happy to be back, but I wanted to post here about it for two weeks, so this is me complaining even though I'm feelin' pretty keen.

So...I'm looking at DVDs at the store and I see a Daffy Duck DVD. At first I don't think much of it because why wouldn't Daffy be on DVD? Then out of the corner of my eye I notice that it has the Space Jam logo on it. So I inspect this DVD out of curiosity thibking maybe it's just Space Jam with a new cover. Turns out it's just Daffy Duck cartoons, but the title of the disc is "From the Stars of Space Jam: Daffy Duck!"
I...um...have so many questions about this. Maybe I'm just "the old guy" now but is today's youth not familiar with Looney Tunes? I thought that was a mainstay of cartoons since television was invented. Even when Saturday morning went belly up, I'm pretty sure they're a thing on Cation Network/Boomerang. But then again I haven't had cable in a while.
Second, trying to sell this to kids through Space Jam? I know Space Jam was pretty popular back in the day, but I wouldn't have thought kids today would have been familiar with it. I've always felt like it was just this dumb flavor of the month thing. I guess there is a lot of nostalgia for that movie, so are parents passing this silly movie on to their children? Like baldness or diabetes?
So I'm trying to wrap my head around this...did Space Jam at some point become a bigger brand than Looney Tunes? This seems so weird to me.
I dunno. This is just a random string of thoughts that this set into motion. But boy do I feel old.

The title of Looney Tunes has been deemed bigoted by the PC Police. Looney refers to mentally challenged individuals so it is outlawed.

People who have no idea what a turn lane is. I mean, how can you NOT KNOW that's what that stinking lane is for? Get the f*uck out of my way!

Maybe we need Driver's Education to happen once every decade or so so that people can get a refresher and so that everyone who does it routinely can have something scheduled to be cranky about. Like Jury Duty!

Found out today that I'm getting laid off in July. Nineteen years at this job. I don't have any idea what I'm going to do. Forty-four feels old to be job shopping.
One thing I know - tonight I drink.

So sorry to hear about your situation Mod City. I hope you find something.
Makes my complaint sound stupid, but here it goes:
Why is single occupancy MORE EXPENSIVE than double occupancy? I looked it up, and it was explained that it was an extra surcharge because "most rooms are booked for double occupancy" or "meant for double occupancy" or something to that effect. That makes zero sense. If two people book a room for $150 a night, and a single person books a room for $175 a night, how is having two people there in the room getting the hotel more money? Why penalize the single traveler? The two people are paying LESS, and they're using more electricity, more water, more towels, more toilet paper, the cleaning crew has to work harder to clean up the room.
I don't get it. An occupied room is an occupied room, why not just charge the same?
Anyone in the industry? Can someone explain this??
