A woman walking on a beach in Florida discovered that someone had BURNED a whole bunch of baby turtles. I hope this/these person/persons are found and they have the living crap beaten out of them. Really hate people sometimes.

^ Da fuq ? If AirCanada is so horrible why do they continue to use the airline? Are there no other airlines that offer the same flight?

Do I still own this place after all these years? I checked, and I think I can still delete it at will. So I'm your god. I only say that to make you vaguely fearful in a non-consequential way. But I know some of you have (foolishly) invested. I like to flex.

I just watched about a minute of a YouTube video about a man and his family who wanted to "quit the rat race" and "stop having everything being about acquiring money" and sell their home, buy a boat and sail around the world. I couldn't finish it. The guy's only 50 and you should have seen the size of the house they had that they sold. I wanted to write this in the comment section of the video itself, but I didn't want to be one of those people who just trashed someone in the comment section of their own YouTube channel (yeah, they have a channel, so they're probably monetized).
It's great that they don't want to be as materialistic NOW and spend more time as a family and be more self-sustaining and conscious about the environment, blah, blah.
But - hey, buddy: You had to have a bajillion dollars in the FIRST place in order to be able to DO that. Are these people for real?
Not begrudging them the fact they HAD money, just the attitude of "hey, look at us, we're ditching the rat race!" (Now that we can afford to --yea, us!!)
Hey! Let's ALL do that! ------ Oh, yeah, we can't.
Grrr.

Pier 1 is going out of business. Probably because of people like me. Who liked to go in and browse (because it was a really cool store and they had neat stuff to look at), but never bought anything. (Well, almost never). And their sh*t is STILL expensive, even though it's "discounted." Edit: Now they are online only and it's all crap, not like the stuff they actually sold in stores. It looks like any other POS online store that sells all the same crap.

Why has it become next to impossible to find any Tums in mint flavor? No matter what store I go to all I can find are fruit or berry, and both of those flavors make me sick. For mint all I ever seem to find are the store brands, and they're like chewing on a rock. All I want is mint, is that too much to ask? Even Amazon doesn't have the right thing. Rolaids just doesn't cut it for me. *sigh* I guess I'll just keep looking...

^^^^ Mission accomplished. Finally found some in my usual grocery store.
On another note, is anyone else caught up in the Great Samsung Blu-ray Boot Loop Debacle? Apparently most Samsung Blu-ray players and home theater systems have become unusable. As long as they are plugged in they will constantly try to boot up and read a disc for a couple seconds, then shut off and try again. Lather rinse, repeat, ad infinitum, and so on. This has affected my player, which was working perfectly up until about a week ago. For some reason the link to an article I keep trying to embed won't work, but a Google search will lead you to tons of articles. The embedded video in most of the articles shows exactly what mine is doing. Apparently if you want to spend an eternity on the phone you can contact Samsung which will send you a UPS label so you can send in the unit which will then be fixed for free, but with the backlog they're probably going to have who knows how long you would have to wait for your player to be returned. Unless you have a lot of money invested in a home theater system it seems like just getting a new non-Samsung player would be the easiest thing to do. I've been browsing around online looking for a new one, but I mostly seem to find models that are three or four or even more years old, even though they are brand new. And I'm finding a lot of them that do not have built-in WiFi. Since my router and modem are in a different room than the player it would not be very convenient to have a 50-foot ethernet cable running down the hallway into another room. I might have to go slightly over what I want to pay to get what I want, but maybe the one I'm looking at will go on sale soon. I am rarely that lucky. I'm going to hold off on buying a new one just yet and try to wait a little while to see if there might be some sort of patch release. Probably a futile hope since I don't know if it will stay on long enough to download a patch if we get one, but I really liked the player that is currently useless. I just plug it in once in a while to check, but nothing so far.

I hate people who make videos and do that "cut to the same scene" edit style. I realize SOME of it could be that maybe they are cutting it for time and maybe cut out a few places where there was empty air or spots where they maybe did a few "ums" or "wells" and such. But you can just tell, most of the time they're just doing it to be "artsy." Like, they're talking, and the video does like a jump cut, and they are still speaking the same sentence. Not artsy when EVERYBODY does it. (Same attitude that procedural shows do where they don't focus on the people talking and show them from all different angles and sh*t and have the camera constantly moving, to be edgy -- yeah, that stopped being edgy when everyone started copying the same style).
"Here's my video. I hope (jump to the same scene, they're in the same position) you like it." That kind of thing. I hope I explained that good and you realize what I mean.
"I'm just gonna (jump) give my opinion (jump) about this {insert name of music video/show/movie, whatever} (jump) please subscribe (jump) and like (jump) and tell me in the comments (jump) what you think."
AAaaarghhh! STOP it!
I also hate people who think they are like professional documentarians (is that a word?) and gesticulate incessantly as if that gives them some kind of authoritarian air. (Kind of feels like they are copying the mannerisms of some lecture hall professor and think their video on their opinion of Funyuns is the same as watching a David Attenborough Nature special, if you get me).
And those who use goofy, smirky voices like, "hey! aren't I quirky and fun!"
No. No, you're not.
And don't get me started on the fact that every stinking show, movie, documentary, commercial, video feels the need to play nerve jangling music over EVERYTHING, drowning out the dialogue or just filling in the space as if we can't have any stillness or quiet between scenes or whatever.
I'm going to show you my step-by-step video on how to paint this chair: First, do this {insert loud, synthesized human voices made to sound like music}. Just shut up, already and show the damn steps!!!

Is it some kind of stinking law or something that if shower curtains are cheap they also have to be hideously ugly?
Guess us poor folk can't have nice things.

I'm glad my town has a Christmas tree on their green that is a live tree and they just keep decorating that and don't chop down centuries or decades old trees just to haul it to the green and decorate for a month. I wish more towns did that. The tree they hauled to Rockefeller Center in NYC had an owl still in it. Luckily, they didn't kill it. They still killed the tree, though.
