Question is, would Mike, Kevin, Bill and all the rest be up for it? It HAS been four years and they've all moved on to other projects since then. If anything, a new MST movie would be a more likely choice, but given the first movie's performance (not BBI's fault), I doubt the idea would be considered. Still, one can hope. I'll keep my fingers crossed. I think a reunion show would be best. They seem to really want to get a chance at Titanic. I'm all for a four hour episode if they do.

Am I the only one that finds it depressing that a show like MST3K was never a big ratings and pop culture hit, yet crappy reality t.v. shows like Joe Millionaire, American Idol, Survivor, and Queer Eye For The Straight Guy ARE big rating hits and apart of American pop culture? I just don't get how the general public never got into a show like MST3K, yet fall in love with reality t.v.
As for MST3K no longer airing on t.v., I'm a little depressed since the fan club will no longer grow as much, therefore, alot of people won't be able to discover the show, but I'm not actually upset, since I've been searching for tapes on the net for about a year, and I brought all the dvd box sets. Still, I wouldn't end the show with The Screaming Skull, I thought it it was a rather weak episode(though the Gumby Short was great). I would instead end with either Phantom Planet(the first episode I saw), Devil Fish(the episode that made me a fan), or Invasion of the Neptune Men(My all-time favorite episode.)
MST3K made be gone from t.v. forever, but it will live on in our hearts! We must keep the show alive!
P.S.-I seriously think that AMC would be the PERFECT home for MST3K.

The best hope is that it goes back into production. With the complicated rights issues of the older eps, I don't see them ever showing on another network. Seems it would be much less expensive to rebuild the bots, some version of the set and go from there. Maybe getting away from Sci-fi will open up some doors? I remember Mike saying in an interview that he would do the show again, but he feels MST3K wouldn't actually fit in with what is on t.v. now adays (ie: Crappy Reality T.V. Shows). And Kevin and Bill have both said in interviews they would do the show again (if they were paid a good amount of money).

Because the masses are always wrong.
You will never go broke catering to the lowest common denomenator. But quality is always there for those willing to look.

I was sad at first, but then I realized... I hardly ever watch the show live, as I work just about every Saturday (gotta take care of sick puppies and kittens). I used to look forward to coming home after work and watching the taped episode with my boyfriend. The episodes they show recently, I've seen already. I like to see new ones, and there are great sources for that. Even though I rarely watch it live, it's sad to see it go. But classic TV simply never dies. I believe it will reappear somewhere someday. In the mean time, I can have the Saturday ritual of watching an episode from tape or DVD. And unlike Sci Fi, this (much better) forum will last way beyond the ending of the show. ;D

You know, as sad as it is, I agree that it's time Sci-Fi just quit and showed another 2 episodes of Stargate or whatever crap they show that no one watches. I'm tired of seeing the same 5 episodes over and over and, to tell you the truth, it pisses me off more than it makes me happy to see the show on there. I have heard some rumors of AMC and possibly TBS buying the rights to ALL the episodes and showing them, but, those are just rumors. As stated, classic TV never dies. I dream of the day of a channel that only shows The Twilight Zone, Sanford and Son, Happy Days, MST3K, Get Smart, and Gilligan's Island. Then I can just sit around, laugh, drink, and be happy. It will happen, MST3K will live in a better light, it might take a year, but, a show with as much following as it has can't go dormant for very long.

I am a little saddened because me and my mom get up early on saturdays and we watch MST3K and enjoy it but I have been building my collection thanks to www.mst3kvideos.com so I can watch it anytime!

This is too sad to contemplate. I have watched MST3k for almost 10 years, and I can't imagine having it available somewhere on the far end of the cable spectrum. Still, the Brains have a history of recovering from near-death (although they are pretty much dead now).
How can the show continue? As a small cult, certainly (we're here aren't we?). The Brains still seem to like and associate with one another, so maybe there is hope for another incarnation. I have always thought that a series of direct-to-video experiments would work well.
As for the old episodes....well, I'm not holding my breath. There may be one or two more Rhino Releases, but I suspect that well will run dry in the next year or so. It will be sad.
On the bright side, there is no shortage of cheesy movies, so perhaps MST3K will be reborn again in some manner so advanced we can't conceive of it.

People will always remember it, that's for sure. Although they may not know its name, the actors, or when it aired, they'll remember the shadows at the bottom of the screen.
And as for us, we will always remember it's name, the actors, and when it aired. And we will always remember the shadows at the bottom of the screen.

The bright side is that as long as Sci Fi ran it they have exclusive rights. After their done it opens the possibility of another network showing older eps. Not very likely, but a possibility.

The show is too popular in many circles for it not to continue in some form or another. It's perfect for syndication, even in the form of the Mystery Science Theater Hour. It will live on, someone will see the value of it eventually. I wouldn't hold my breath though. It'll take some time and some people, like us, writing letters and getting new people to do the same. Long live MST3K!!! Servo

I think the main drawback to syndication (other than movie rights) is the 2 hour air time. It's hard for stations to fit that in. And the MST Hour didn't work out very well.
