Whatever's clever. I mean the Comedy Central one DOES have over 2,000 sigs now but starting from scratch is good... if you have the time, of course. Also don't expect Satellite News to support it... it's been said that the rights for movies are tough to come by or something.

The rights to movies have become EXPENSIVE to come by. I'm just gonna make one that asks any cable company to look at the devoted fan base and make a decision to either pick it up and air older episodes or make new ones or both. I'm not going to demand anything. I'm not that bold. I don't expect the support of Satellite News, I expect the support of Misties everywhere.
That's all,
Servo

I sure hope Satellite News supports it. Well they were pretty stern about not supporting any type of MST3K petition. But then they did superplug your forum... I guess if they hated me enough, which is probably the case they would promote it.

That's all, Servo Y'know even if they did decide to make new episodes, I don't see it being the same show that it was... even SciFi eps seemed rather different from the Comedy Central ones. I'd really hope that some network picks up the CC/SciFi reruns and airs most if not all of them. Especially to try and increase the fanbase... not to mention let people who haven't seen the CC eps (or some of the CC eps like myself) see them again.

[glow=green,2,300]I don't know. I'd read somewhere that BBI was contemplating releasing new episodes direct to video, but the deal fell through because direct to video is a different ballgame in that they'd need to make a sizable profit on video sales to make up for Rhino distributing the new episodes and to pay for the rights to the movies featured. As much as I do not want to admit it, it looks like we will see no more new episodes in the near future.[/glow]

I emailed Kevin Murphy about a 2nd MST3K movie:
I said, "Since the show is dead, could there be a 2nd MST3K movie?"
Kevin Murphy: "Dear ---- [hey, that's personal guys],
You never know."
Wow.
I also read a Mike interview and he said the MST3K crew is working on something new. COULD IT BE

movie idea is bad. That won't work one bit, trust me. A new season, is a good idea however. It would actually cost less than to make a new movie, AND, almost as time-consuming. Matters what type of movie, if it's another one for Hollywood then yes it could take a long time. But if it's say independent or direct to video it could be really quick. Really, if you do things quick (and they did during TV), Someone could screen a few films at there house and pick one. Then the staff could go to someones house and write the movies segments and host segemnts. Then they could rent out a studio for two days to tape host segments. Get a blue screen and tape those segments in a day. THey could find a public domain film and not have to worry about rights. I'm sure someone would distribute it, most likely Rhino if it had to be direct to video.

Internet petitions mean nothing. Write letter to the network, not e-mails, letters. It means more to actually take the time to print out (or handwrite) something and put a stamp on something and go to the post office to mail it out and you can do e-mails too but try to write a letter.
Biggest networks to try Encore Network- has shown MST3K the movie and has a ton of sub channels that could show MST3K. AMC- showed intrest last time in bringing back MST3K, plus has the rights to a ton of films (which they would have to get again for most MST3K films)

I think AMC is the ideal network to pick up MST re-runs. That would be the only way I would start watching AMC again. What about all the public domain movies they could riff on?

I'm not 100% sure but I think BBI addressed it and said it would be too costly if they went ahead and did that. Another thing also, back when SciFi gave MST the kiss of death, when there was talk about putting MST back together the general consensus was that the show most likely wouldn't be the same... staff-wise and what not. Think about how MST was on CC vs SciFi. Frankly I thought it was a bit watered down since the days of Frank and Dr. F.vs the days of Pearl, Bobo, and Brain Guy. Think about that, and then think what would happen if they restarted the entire show with maybe 3 of the 5 remaining cast members (Mike, Bill, Kevin, Mary Jo, and I guess Paul Chaplin.) I just can't see new eps being anything but mediocre. I mean sure the riffing will still be somewhat amusing but other than that it'll just be an entirely different show. Frankly, I think the best way to go right now is to beg someone to bring back most (if not all) of the Scifi or CC reruns. I tried doing that with the petition mentioned above, but to no avail. Like i've said before though, MST has too big of a following to just whither and die away... if not in some rerun form on TV, i'm sure Rhino will continue to provide us with episodes via DVD.
