I just got on my email & I got a message from "Chris Cornell" <Msampo@aol.com>:
Here is what it said:
Our friends at Rhino tell us The Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection: Volume 11 is, tentatively, due out in February. And a reminder: Mystery Science Theater 3000 Collection: Volume 10 is now available! Episodes are: 212- GODZILLA VS. MEGALON 503- SWAMP DIAMONDS (plus short: WHAT TO DO ON A DATE) 514- TEEN-AGE STRANGLER (plus short: IS THIS LOVE?) 810- THE GIANT SPIDER INVASION The collection also includes these extras: "MST3K Video Jukebox" (15 songs from the series), "Photo Gallery" and "Outtakes" (we're told this actually means about 15 minutes of the best moments from "Poopie 2"). You can get it from all the usual retail outlets, or order it directly from the Info Club. It's item #7N and the price is $55.

I knew that I shouldn't have expected another quick, 3 month turnaround like there was between vol. 9 & 10, but I was really hoping Rhino was going to be able to squeeze 11 in sometime before Christmas. I mean, it's not like there aren't enough episodes in the public domain that they couldn't just slap something together (which is what Rhino usually does anyway), but I digress.
At least now I have something to look forward to in February other than the Super Bowl.

I agree, I'm surprised they aren't going to try an exploit the Christmas season with another release. Plus it would have been sweet if they put Santa Claus on it.

I doubt Rhino would just slap this set together, as you put it. Ever since the "Dead Talk Back" fiasco on Volume 8, they've been paying more attention to the box sets and putting more effort into them - extra features, higher-quality transfers, and harder-to-obtain episodes (really, whoever thought Rhino would actually finagle the rights to "Godzilla vs. Megalon"?). If the time and effort that Rhino puts into the set results in a later release date, that's all well and good by me if it means that the end result will be of the highest quality possible.

Maybe they'll take the extra time to get on their grey mamalian knees before snady frank so we can get the gameras and time of the apes?

... Ever since the "Dead Talk Back" fiasco on Volume 8, ... Pardon my ignorance..."Dead Talk back fiasco"? I backed-off buying the sets immediately upon release post-"Killer Shrews Replacement Disc". I didn't tune-in on the chatter with Vol 8, but I watched this last week upon purchase of the set, and I didn't see anything wrong with it...compared to previous viewings of fan-copies, that is. Did I miss something? Thanks for answering here, instead of making me wade through the 'complaints'.

I wonder how lon gthey'll hold off before announcing the episodes? I wonder how long until we finally find out the winner from the "guess volume 11" contest??? Actually, that's why I'm anzious more than anything - I want to see if anybody did actually guess right!

This is indeed wonderful news, I'm suprised the announcement of even a tentative date came so soon after Vol. 10. I was also kind of hoping they could squeeze in another release before years end, although I figured that might be unlikely.
I wouldn't be suprised if the announcement of the titles for Vol. 11 comes sometime in November.

It would seem that the BBI master copy of "The Dead Talk Back" used on Volume 8 had a few visual defects in it, causing the screen to flicker periodically at various moments thoughout the episode. I myself have not yet watched this copy, so I can't pass judgement, but everyone else was complaining about what a severe distraction it was from their enjoyment of the episode and how Rhino should have taken the time to find a better copy, etc. There hasn't been anything this bad on any Rhino releases since, so I'm guessing the backlash made them change their ways.
