Hm. Don't care much for the football announcer like headgear, but I'm looking forward to this.
Didn't we all already know that Hollywood After Dark was coming out in July though?

We just heard some semi-disappointing news over at the RiffTrax forum. Apparently, the four Film Crew DVDs were created three years ago to be released by Rhino. Mallon (I assume) threatened to sue so they didn't see the light of day. Now Shout! Factory has picked them up for release, but there won't be anymore. The Film Crew website gave the distinct impression that this was a new endeavor with a bright future. Oh well. It will still be great to have these 4 DVDs released.

Well that's disappointing. I'd rather they riffed older b-movies than the new, blockbuster type movies that Rifftrax seems to lean so heavily on. "Killers from Space" is by far the most exciting for me out of these four, and was hoping to see more like it down the road. Oh well. Maybe Rifftrax will do some of those movies eventually...

That is a bummer, but I couldn't see Mallon threatening to sue over it.

They can say it's not a new MST3K, but how can you not look at it that way? *It makes fun of bad movies, just like MST3K. *Contains three actors and writers from MST3K *They're put in seculusion and forced to watch these movies by some figurehead
The concept and premise are obviously MST inspiried. I don't like it at all, if you're not going to do MST3K, don't do it is what I say honestly. Everything else pales in comparison.

Will there be silhouettes? That new does suck about only 4 being made.

Here are the quotes from TorgosPizza from RiffTrax.com (he works for RiffTrax): and this: This sheds some light on why Swing Parade was only 'so-so'.

Well at least we know what happened with the Rhino project. And who knows, if they sell well they could do more.
I really could give a rat poopie about all the other stuff and nonsense we debate about on this subject (is it like MST, should they do it, blah, blah and more blah!). Bottom line, these guys make me laugh and riffing on B movies, in any way shape or form... I'll be there with a big assed grin on my face.

I'll happily consume any product these guys put out, but I'd much rather they riff on old b-movie cheese than new mainstream cheese. I think it's because, even without riffing, I'd rather watch "Teenagers From Outerspace" than "Terminator 3" (for example). That's how my personal taste leans.

My personal preference is any bad movies...new or old. I was SO happy when they riffed on Troll 2.

I was hoping this project would co-exist with Rifftrax. This project could focus on the older flicks and having skits again would be nice. Perhaps these four will sell well enough that more will be made. Maybe some semi-intelligent television executive (Barry Diller, if he is still around?) might decide that the Film Crew is a wonderful idea for a television series. Hmmmm...
