It's simple in a good way, I say.
It's way better than Rhino's packaging - I have a hard time describing what Rhino was aiming for.
I'm betting they're only doing the tin for the 20th anniversary release. Maybe the design, too? We may get a completely different look for the early 09 release.
It looks really thick, though. Are four discs confirmed or just four episodes? Could there be more discs of bonus features? Perhaps a booklet or some other superfluous addition like postcards or something...
I should shut up before I arouse any excitables.

Perhaps it will be like the Seinfeld box sets with weird little sorta-props of relatively useless stuff, but fun to say that you have!!
Or a Beez blowup doll... am I allowed to say that?! ;D
Either way, it looks simple, but as if a lot of effort was made to make it look sleek and official. I personally think the Rhino covers were getting TOO cluttered, so simple is a good thing for me. It says what it is, has a shadowrama to catch the eye of people (especially those who dont remember the name but remember the shadowrama) and that's really all you need. Less is more.
I like it... next, to find out what's inside!!!

Since I'll probably be putting the discs straight into Joshway packages, the box they originally come in doesn't matter much to me. I'm hoping, though, that all this "20th Anniversary" stuff will lead to a bit more attention and publicity for the set. I imagine sales would benefit greatly from, say, a postivie review in Entertainment Weekly.

www.mst3kinfo.com/?p=707While Laserblast and Werewolf might not necessarily be in THIS 20th Anniversary boxset, I have a feeling they might be in a future box in the not-too-distant future... Does sound that way. Which is too bad, since even just sticking to public domain they could do a lot better than those two eps. I strongly disagree sir. Those are two excellent episodes that fans have been clamoring for for quite a while (especially Laserblast, since it is a season 7 episode and the last on Comedy Central AND with Dr. F) Besides, how many true public domain movies are left that haven't been released (not just ones we assume are public domain)?

I like the box! It's great to see that it's simple, not cluttered, and actually evokes the image of the show. And kudos to Shout! for not using the same old shadowrama that Rhino slapped on the covers of box sets 4 through 12 - I was getting sick of that thing.

Looks like they used the shadowrama from the MST Movie poster.

Man I am getting excited. I am a fan of Shout and own the Freaks and Geeks set (very well done). I would also agree that Werewolf and (especially) Laserbalst are excellent choices, will be nice to retire my bootlegs for crisp disks and special features

I hope there will be something extree in that tin... like a honey-baked ham or a pack of smokes. That would be sweet!!! Sure, I can buy those things for cheaper at the Circle K, but I don't smoke and I don't really care for ham.

Besides, how many true public domain movies are left that haven't been released (not just ones we assume are public domain)? #509 - GIRL IN LOVERS LANE #602 - INVASION U.S.A. #605 - COLOSSUS AND THE HEADHUNTERS #616 - RACKET GIRLS #618 - HIGH SCHOOL BIG SHOT Plus: #103 - MAD MONSTER #105 - THE CORPSE VANISHES ~ But these two eps have Commando Cody shorts, which are not PD. #415 - THE BEATNIKS ~ Features a General Hospital short, which is most likely PD (or would be very easy to license), but should be noted anyway.

Well, I wish the heck they'd release Racket Girls and High School Bigshot already, because those are two of my favorites. So is Beatniks, but like you said, the whole General Hospital short is the hump.
