This is an updated version of my list in the other thread.
10- 12 Moneys (1995) Terry Gilliam is a genius, and pretty-boys Bruce Willis and Brad Pitt acted the lights out in this.
9- Back to the Future (1985) One of very few movies I will sit and watch in its entirety any time it's on cable. Instantly I'm 10 years old again.
8- The Third Man (1949) The final scene alone makes this one a classic and secures its place in my top 10. It also has the original sewer chase scene ripped off countless times (by The Fugitive, for example).
7- This is Spinal Tap (1984) Possibly the funniest movie ever made. Tied for the best musical ever made. No musician worth his salt would keep this off his or her top 10.
6- The Blues Brothers (1980) Tied with above for best musical ever made. Immediately takes me back to Chicago. Plus, it's got Aretha, James Brown, Ray Charles, Cab Calloway, and Princess Leia with a rocket launcher.
5- The Shawshank Redemption (1994) I saw this the day it opened on a whim, not knowing anything about it. I saw it every day for the next week, bringing someone different every time.
4- The Seven Samurai (1954) Kurosawa is the world's greatest director, and this is his greatest movie. Mifune is brilliant as the arrogant hero, yet this is the ultimate ensemble movie. If you haven't seen it, go find it right now. I mean it. Stop reading this stupid post and go find it and watch it. Now.
3- Casablanca (1942) It's not a chick flick. It's a war movie. About a man's courage and choosing the right thing in spite of his emotions. Quite possibly the perfect film. Plus, it's got a ripping hot Ingrid Bergman, quite possibly the prettiest woman ever.
2- Glory (1989) I've seen it over a hundred times, and I still bawl like a little girl at the same scenes. Courage, sacrifice, honor, unity, leadership, revenge, and well...glory. It's got them all. For years, my favorite movie without equal. Until...
1- The Lord of the Rings (2001-2003) It's one movie. Not three. Ever since my dad read the books to me as a child, I've dreamed of seeing them on screen. The extended DVDs will become regular viewing for the rest of my (and my children's) life.

Wow, there's really a lot of variation on everybody's lists...
Seeing everybody's reminded me of some other ones, like Belle de Jour, which is brilliant, and The Shawshank Redemption, which I've seen about fifty squintillion times (I've read Stephen King's novella about SIXTY squintillion times...Shawshank was easily the best King adaptation, although I loved The Shining as well). And yeah, Monty Python and the Holy Grail. And Ed Wood. And Harold and Maude. And Dangerous Liaisons. And Suspiria. And The Other (with Uta Hagen). Picking just ten is bloody hopeless, isn't it?

THIS LIST IS IN NO PARTICULAR ORDER, AND MAY BE OVER TEN. These are the one I definitely know I like, and therefore may be under ten, as well.
Pulp Fiction- Quentin Tarantino! Cool movie structure! Daring explictness! John Travolta's fifth career comeback! What more can you ask for? Fight Club- So many people may disagree with me on this one, but it says 'Favorite movies,' not 'Best Movies'. And it has Edward Norton in it! A Clockwork Orange- I like Stanley Kubrick and disturbing films not to be viewed by most people my age. Those are probably my ulimate favorites. Others that I like: Dr. Strangelove Chicago Ed Wood Fear and Loathing in Los Vegas Donnie Darko Better Off Dead Edward Scissorhands And there are trillions more, I just don't want to go over ten.

I'd have a hard time listing my all time top ten so I'll do a specialty list of music films. The order is not exact.
A Hard Day's Night - What a wonderful film. A fictional day in the life of The Beatles. They seemed as innocent as everybody wanted them to be. A very influential movie.
Don't Lok Back - D A Pennebakers great documentary on Bob Dylan's '65 tour of England. It set the standard for rocumentary's. Dylan often comes off as an arrogant little twit and it's great entertainment!
The Last Waltz - Scorsese, The Band, A cast of all stars. A brilliant concert film.
Rust Never Sleeps - Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Could have been a better film but a great concert. Sureal and rockin'. And I was there so it's sentimental.
Monterey Pop - An important moment in Rock history. Career making sets byThe Who and Jimi Hendrix. Would have done a lot fot the career of Otts Redding but dead men tell no tales.
Woodstock - Not all of the musical perfomances hold up but another influential film. A great record of the time. And Hendrix and The Who shine again.
The Kids Are Alright - The career of The Who, the real Who with Moonie. The young Keith was a kinetic whirlwind to watch. Fantastic.
Eat The Document - D A Pennebaker's still unrealeased doc of Dylan's 66 tour of England. Dylan goes elecric. Shocked the hell out of people. If your young you can't understand it. Sorry.
Hail Hail Rock N Roll - A concert put together by Keith Richards for Chuck Berry's 60th birthday. The concert scenes are of the least interest. It's the backstage fights and interviews that are enlightening.
X The Unheard Music - The great LA punk band X. I haven't seen it for a long time but a great document and makes some valid points about the music biz that are still valid.
I know I left some out but there's a few.
