Ator, The Fighting Eagle
One of the funniest Rifftrax I've seen. It's our old friend Ator in the prequel to Cave Dwellers. In this one he wants to marry his sister and has a little bear companion who comes and goes as he battles the evil spider kingdom. There are plenty of incest jokes and they are hilarious. If you're a fan of Cave Dwellers this one is a must see. I laughed till it hurt.

Has anyone checked out Retro Puppet Master? I've been curious about the movie since reading Greg Sestero's "The Disaster Artist", and was wondering how good the riffs is (and if it's worth a St. Patrick's Day Sale purchase).

Have seen it and yes it's worth it, if you wanna see younger Greg do some hilariously bad acting in a really stupid movie. The riffing is great, lots to work with.

I've decided to check out some Rifftrax I missed over the years, especially now that the new MST has me in the riffing spirit. So I got a few shorts and features I've compiled and am finally getting around to. So I started with a short...
Dinosaurs: The Age of the Terrible Lizard
Cheap and brief animated short trying to teach kids about dinosaurs, but says next to nothing about them. There are a lot of jokes at how goofy the whole thing is and at five minutes it breezes by. This thing was only 75 cents, and I'll say it's worth it.
And the main attraction:
Psycho II
Our riffers watch this sequel to the legendary Hitchcock film, which sees Norman trying to live a normal life after being freed from a mental asylum only to be harassed and inched closer to insanity.
I was always curious about checking this one out, and thanks to MST finally being back on the map I finally sprung for it. This was an interesting choice for a film, obviously an unnecessary follow up to a decades old classic and yet actually a pretty good film in its own right. I like the story it presents of a man who has worked to right himself but is constantly treated like a monster because of his past. And there are plenty of clever, if slightly forced, twists and turns along the way as well.
Mike, Kevin, and Bill let loose on a constant barrage of jokes about Norman's sanity, constantly teasing him and goading him. What doesn't work for me is that this is pretty much the premise of the movie and the Rifftrax crew almost blend in the people who harass the man, and it feels kind of cruel for a while. The riffs do become a bit funnier as the film goes on and Norman is teetering on the edge of sanity, because now they're playing with something that's there. Riffs on the film desecrating Hitchcock's film are hit and miss, though there is a lot of fun with the logic of the script. The ending, which has all three of them cracking up at one point, is a highlight.
I don't know. It was funny, but I didn't fully find it worthwhile. Personally I think they would have been better off with Psycho III, which is a bit nuttier and their "Norman is MAD" riffs probably would have landed a lot more.

Santa and The Ice Cream Bunny (studio version)- This is some of RT's very best work, IMO, Kevin, Bill, and Mike are on fire throughout, nailing the bizarreness of the film , the horrendous performance by the actor playing Santa and the horrid music. I am adding this to my MST/CT/RT holiday viewing schedule.

Short: Flying Saucer Mystery
Funny short about KEEP WATCHING THE SKIES, presenting fuel to people with foil hats. Mike, Kevin, and Bill embrace the wildness and riff with ease. This short is hilarious.
Feature: The Last Shark
This rip-off of Jaws stars James Franciscus as Not-Brody and Vic Morrow as Not-Quint. A shark terrorizes beaches, people are killed, hunt for shark ensues. Along the way the movie makes the mistake of repeating Jaws 2's unintentionally funny scene of a shark trying to eat a helicopter, but comes off funnier because it doesn't have that much of a budget.
And yet, it's still a better movie than Jaws 4. Go figure.
Watching a dumb shark movie is always an attractive prospect. James Rowlf sums up shark movie obsession pretty well here...
The Last Shark certainly qualifies as a crap shark movie, pretty much just lazily cutting and pasting Jaws's plot and doing it for much cheaper. Live shark intercutting rarely blends well into the film (to be fair, Jaws had this issue as well) while the rubber shark prop looks so bloated that you never doubt it's eating all these people because it's obviously well fed. Underwater scenes with a shark toy tend to get the giggles also, while the absurd attempts at drama tend to either drag or go over the top, depending on the scene.
Riffing is pretty good. Better than a other riffs of shark movies I've heard, which include Devil Fish, Sharknado, and even the original Jaws. Though I dare say my favorite shark riff is Janet and Cole's Jaws 3. As far as The Last Shark goes, the jokes rise to the occasion when some meaty shark action is onscreen, though their run gag of yelling "SHARK! Oh I'm sorry, I was just exclaiming something entirely unrelated" grow tired real quick. However some obvious opens aren't taken advantage of, especially during an absurd sequence in which the shark purposefully traps a pair of divers in a cave by pushing rocks in front of the opening.
I do pine for Rifftrax to one day tackle the king of the silly shark movie, Deep Blue Sea. As Rifftrax moves closer to being VOD exclusive and reserving their audio only for flavor of the month blockbusters, this seems unlikely. But if anybody at Rifftrax ever reads this, I hope they at least consider maybe thinking about it.

R.O.T.O.R aka Blue Steel (1987)
Wow...this film was bad...like really, really bad... which worked because it gave Mike, Kevin & Bill an endless supply of stupid to work with.

Gammera the Invincible It wasn't as good as I thought it would be.
The Dark Wow...what an absolutely terrible film. This one actually felt like a season 9/10 episode of MST3K to me...which I'm all for.
Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country
I actually really like this film...but the RiffTrax didn't harm the film that much.

Starship Invasions (1977) This one had an interesting feel to it. It almost feels like a film from the 3rd or 4th season of MST3K...its hard to explain.
It was very entertaining.

Ready Player One
I actually enjoyed it but I can understand why Kevin and Bill didn’t like it. They were not loving it at all.
