Thought I'd start this up 'cause I realized I buy music at about the same rate of intake that Wild Rebel buys DVDs! Well, sometimes, anyway.
Just picked these up (all used) for $2.50 to $3.50 apiece! I usually don't take so many chances on bands I'm not sure about, but they were so underpriced I knew I'd be able to sell them to my workplace (a used books/music/everything else store) for more credit than what I'd paid for them at the Hastings next door. But I think I'll keep them!
The Black Heart Procession - 2
I had thought this was a hard to listen to post-rock band. But I was wrong, it's pretty good. I was probably confusing them with Godspeed You Black Emperor (blech).
My Morning Jacket - Tennessee Fire
This I really like. I had thought this was a crappy emo band until I heard someone compare them to Death Cab For Cutie. It's far from emo. And it's great.
Gomez - Bring It On
Gomez - Liquid Skin
Gomez - In Our Gun
I dunno if I really like these that much, but Taylor and I saw them at Vegoose and I knew she'd want us to have these. They're alright, but I kinda don't like one of the singers' voices.
Then I got these at Bookmans (my workplace):
The Ventures - Stars on Guitars
I'm a Ventures nut so I had to have this even though it's a little cheesy. They haven't been truly good since the '60s, but I just gotta have 'em all.
The above are all CDs. Below are my recent LP purchases even though the pics are of Cds . . .
ELO - Greatest Hits
I didn't realize how much I liked these songs. But wow, I do! Particularly "Can't Get It Out of My Head".
Jon Spencer Blues Explosion - Acme
Not my favorite album by them, but I'm sure as heck not going to pass up a vinyl copy of a JSBX album. (My boss sold this LP to the store as part of a big "simplify my life" purging of media. But he changed his mind and decided not to sell the LPs of JSBX's Orange and Crypt Style. I coulda cried! The Orange LP is awesome! It's a sparkly silver with orange labels. And Crypt Style is the one JSBX album I don't have on any format. )
Then I got an LP called "Home on the Range: Folksongs from the University of Arizona Archive 1945-1955" with some cool cowboy songs and such (though "Home on the Range" is not actually one of them!). It's supposed to have an illustrated booklet with it, but it's missing. The jacket and labels list the song names, but no artist names. I also can't find any info about the LP on the net. The LP is hand-numbered as 216 of only 300! So, I don't have real high hopes of figuring out who the artists are. Maybe I'll have to email the UofA library.
