"Battery"- Metallica Master of Puppets. See above. Thank you, yes. "Stinkfist"- AEnima-Tool This is one of the most insane opening tracks I've ever heard. "Angel of Death"- Reign In Blood-Slayer A classic. "Random Acts of Senseless Violence"- Stomp 442-Anthrax This whole album deserved more credit than it got. The minute I hit "play"on this track, I was mesmerized. "Them Bones"- Dirt-Alice In Chains This song hooks you, then you get surprised by the rest of the album. "For Boston"- Sing Loud, Sing Proud!-Dropkick Murphys Just perfect. "Land of Sunshine"- Angel Dust-Faith No More I love this song. Okay, I love the whole damn album. But the first song helped. "American Idiot"- same-Green Day No, I am not having "the debate" in this thread. In MY OPINION, in terms of opening tracks that set the tone for an album, this is right up there.

Break on Through from The Doors first album is not only a great track but it sets the tone not only for their first album but there entire carrier. In The Evening by Led Zeppelin off In Through the Out Door is a favorite of mine also. It’s off one of Zepp’s weakest efforts but man, what a great way to start off an album.

It's hardly a masterpiece, but the Butthole Surfers' "Sweet Loaf" on Locust Abortion Technician freaks out Black Sabbath's "Sweet Leaf" with a kid asking Gibby what regret is beforehand.

You know, I could never think of a good song for this thread, but I finally thought of one: Kiss' "Strutter." Perhaps one of the best career-openers, too.
