I'm going to nominate a song by an artist I've defended here many times. "Say You, Say Me" by Lionel Richie. I love Lionel, and I think he gets way more ridicule than he deserves. But this one is one of the worst songs ever. 1- The lyrics are bottom-of-the-barrel lame. "I had a dream, I had an awesome dream. People in the park, playing games in the dark." Right. 2- It was a song from a ballet movie. That's right. A ballet movie. 3- It won an Oscar. That's right. An Oscar. 4- It has the worst bridge of all time in any recorded song ever. Of all time. Ever. The tempo changes, the instrumentation changes, and the lyrics are a completely different theme. It's like when those clips from "Mole People" showed up in the middle of "Batwoman". Just terrible. All that being said, I still like it. In fact, I think I'm going to listen to it now, in the full knowledge that it sucks on toast. A-freakin-men. most anything ritchie did during that period in the '80's makes me want to rip my own ears off. the song of his i hate even more than say you say me is dancing on the ceiling. the real kicker is knowing the dopes who bought his music during this time is responsible for shaping his daughter, nicole, into the invalid media twit she is today. her father redeemed himself somewhat to me when he made a guest appearance on the simpsons and sang say you as beer you, beer me.

Geez the hate for 'Wonderful Christmastime' is strong around here. It has encompassed three hate topics! Of course now I have it stuck in my head, probably for the rest of the weekend.

- "Unchained Melody" by Vito and the Salutations -- Though used to decent affect in GoodFellas, it's still easily the worst excuse for Doo Wop ever.
- "Winchester Cathedral" by The New Vaudeville Band -- In thinking back to my adolescence, feeding on the history of popular music at large, absorbing all of it, this song stands alone as the biggest nail that ever hit my eardrums.
- "Indian Reservation" by Paul Revere & The Raiders -- Perhaps if Satchel Paige, Larry Doby, Lou Boudreau and Bob Feller could have done a more respectful tribute to the Cherokee. Maybe a barbershop quartet or something. At least their group would have had the right name.
- "Kokomo" by The Beach Boys -- This pains me. I think Brian Wilson may have been the best American songwriter of the 20th century. Thank God he had nothing to do with this monstrosity, it's just a shame that the group he founded with his cousin and brothers did.
- "Banditos" by The Refreshments -- I still think that this song and indeed this band single handedly put the dagger in the heart of college radio breaking through to the mainstream and forever sent it packing back to nowheresville on the Orient Express.

I don't know if it qualifies as "worst" yet, but Janet Jackson's new song Feedback has future worst song potential.

any song by any boy band on the planet. The oeuvre of Take That is actually pretty damn good! And I'm not kidding.

Co-sign! Has anyone ever heard that awful "Christmas Shoes" song? *shudders* What a maudlin, treacly, mess of a song! It's one of the very few Christmas songs that I annually avoid at all costs! I never liked Andy Williams, especially "Happy Holidays/Holiday Season". And has anyone mentioned "Billy Don't be a Hero"? Oh MAN. Sometimes around Xmas time we have the radio going at work, and they play this song, and everyone howls to change the station. YEEEUUUCCCHHH!!! It just makes me cringe.
