We are coming up on the 30th anniversary of Elvis's death, so I thought I would bump this thread. I was 8 when he died, and I remember my parents and pretty much everyone who was older than me were just heart-broken. I was too young to appreciate him then.
But as I've grown older, I've come to appreciate him and really like his music. I really like "Hound Dog" "Jailhouse Rock" and some of his earlier hits. I think one of my all time favorite songs is "In The Ghetto" which is not a happy song, but it's really good.

I was perusing Youtube yesterday, and there is a new music vid/song of Lisa Marie singing a 'duet' with Elvis to In the Ghetto. I think the proceeds are supposed to go to New Orleans.

Love the Sun Sessions and the first RCA recordings. You're listening to rock-n-roll being invented, or at least the white man's version. But strangely my favorite Elvis tune of all time is one of his movie tunes. The song is Spinout, it be groovy.
