Apparently you guys haven't seen any footage of the "We Can't Dance" tour. Long, complex arrangements, great musicianship, and say what you will about Phil, but he's an amazing showman.
As much as I like Gabriel, they can still put on a tremendous show without his pretentious ass.
I just won't get to see it.

Oh, no, I love Phil Collins. I'm just saying, it would be so much more worthwhile if Peter were involved. And, apparently, there's still a slight chance that he might be: www.stereogum.com/archives/004800.html

I figured that I'd unearth this thread instead of making a new one. Here's a preview for you lucky bastards who will be seeing The Police, this summer. Sounds amazing.

I love, love, love live music but I fond myself just not really caring about going out of my way to see a concert anymore. Its expensive and a big pain in the ass to deal with the traffic and parking. I must be lazy.
What I like to do is put on a live show on the old cd player, turn off all the lights close my eyes and I am suddenly there, without the 10 dollar parking, the uncomfortable seats, the frightening bathrooms and the kids toking up next to me. Wait a minuet; those kids were me like 10 years ago! Help! I’m getting old!

I can relate I lost primo tickets to see Rush at PNC on July 8th because my Internet Browser decided to say "Hey, let me conk out and not work while he's in the middle of purchasing front row tickets."
by the time I got it back to working, I had to settle for crappy lawn tickets.

Stewart Copeland just posted this on his official forums. Looks like things aren't going too smoothly, but it's great to hear that they can laugh about it.

I just got back from the show.
It was everything I was waiting for and more.
I have absolutely no complaints. From the first gong hit to start off "Message in a Bottle", to the unexpected extra encore of "Next to You", it was what live music should be: fun, loud, bigger than life, and different than the albums. On lots of songs, they broke from the arrangement and just jammed. And they were a bit sloppy, too, which just added to the fun.
Of course, they played all their big hits; but my favorites were the early stuff like "So Lonely", "Truth Hits Everybody", and "Can't Stand Losing You". Those songs kept things driving all night. They did some great arrangements on "Walking In Your Footsteps" and "Wrapped Around Your Finger". But the knock-down, drag-out highlight of the show for me was "Driven To Tears".
Stewart Copeland broke 2 snare heads, at least half a dozen sticks, and he made me want to give up playing the drums. Andy Summers was Andy Summers (a brilliant chord-man, great ideas, weak on the solos), and Sting can still sing.
They seemed to be really enjoying themselves, and it was worth the wait.

Try getting tickets to Wicked on Broadway...and then we'll talk about excruciating experiences. Anyways..as horrible as it may sound to some..I would LOVE to score some Def Leppard ticks..lol I thought Metallica was going on tour this year too...but I haven't heard anything else about it since a Rolling Stone issue several months ago.

I love Pour Some Sugar On Me. I'm not a metal gal, but it makes me want to fan my hair, put on acid wash jeans, and par-tay all night long!

Okay, time for more blind rage. This time, courtesy of Genesis. Another band I've been waiting a decade and a half to see, and today they announced their North American tour dates for this fall. 13 shows, 13 cities. A grand total of 2 shows west of the Mississippi. TWO! (San Jose and Los Angeles) TWO!!! What a frickin' joke. When I went to register my displeasure and plead for them to add a Denver date (or Phoenix or Houston or Dallas or Seattle or Albuquerque or any other major city in the western states), I found that they changed their forum and it now is only accessible by fan club members. So I have to register for a $35 fee if I want to complain. The good news, though, is that the membership fee will get me earlybird chances on ticket sales...to a gig that's not within 1,000 FRICKIN' MILES FROM ME!!! Color me pissed. Mr. A, have you seen this site? According to their tour schedule, there will be a show in Denver on Oct 6. It makes me mad that the San Jose show won't be until October; by then, I'll be back at school in Virginia... the same thing happened with Paul McCartney two years ago...
