Sorry Mr. Atari, but without evil there is no good.
Folks, there is no time like Christmas to consider some of the worst music on the planet.
Be it the singing dogs Christmas carols or "Grandma got Run over by a Reindeer" you just can't beat Christmas for nails scraped along a blackboard cacophony!
So, ladies and gentlemen, what Christmas music just drives a 9 inch nail right through your Christmas Spirit?
Mine has to be the Singing Dogs "Jingle Bells." My father LOVED this and played it every Christmas all-the-way-through and laughed insanely the whole time it was torturing his poor huddled family (He had usually had a lot of bourbon before hand). We didn't dare tell him to turn it off because he would turn violently angry then be sullen for days. As a result for years I would demand that total strangers and businesses to turn this off if I ever heard it. I mean I would ask to see the manager! Mercifully I haven't heard this crap for years now.
Anyway, what is your's?

I'm a huge sucker for Christmas music. Always have been. Always will be. However, I truly despise the unbearably treacly "Christmas Shoes" song. *shudders*...and the two christmas songs i positively loathe are grandma got run over by a reindeer and that christmas shoes song. bah humbug! How could I have forgotten about "Grandma Got Run Over..."? That has to be my second most hated Christmas song, right behind the 37 verses of "Christmas Shoes". The only other Christmas song that I actively try to avoid is the one by Alvin and the Chipmunks ("Christmas Don't Be Late"?).

I'll say it again-- "Wonderful Christmastime."
But that's fine since I can't say it enough!

The only other Christmas song that I actively try to avoid is the one by Alvin and the Chipmunks ("Christmas Don't Be Late"?). What? That's a catchy song! And you wouldn't hate it if you'd heard the REAL (slowed-down) version! I agree with "Grandma got run over by a reindeer." I started to die inside when they began playing that more every year.

ah, doc Z, i'm with ya on the jingle bell dog thing. i don't know what's more painful - listening to it, or watching people laugh and bark along with it.
and chipmunks should not sing. that song makes my freaking ears bleed.

Anything from the Cliff Richard oeuvre. Bloody awful! Get back to working with The Shadows (if there's any left) or just grow old gracefully, ie quietly.

I actually like the “old standards” for nostalgic reasons, but my wife hates them and throws things at me when I start singing them.
One thing I can’t stand is when someone tries to make a “new” Christmas song. Blargh. Or when pop musicians tries to update one of the classics. It always sounds so forced and contrived to me. I also hate Christmas music used in commercials, but I almost never watch tv so I avoid all that for the most part.

Ok...I'm sorry every one , but I HATE Mannheim Steamroller . It's like someone pressed the "Holiday Music" sample button on Yamaha keyboard.
I also hate all of Amy Grant's cover songs of Christmas standards.. Her voice is SOOOOO sugary sweet it's awful. What really sucks is the fact that WNIC plays Christmas music Ad Nauseaum since early November, and it seems like a good 80 percent of their music is her crap.

Jingle Bell Rock The Most Wonderful Time of the Year Carol of the Bells Winter Wonderland White Christmas
If you hear a song on a holiday TV commercial, or background music at a store that isn't one of those 5 songs, you win a prize.
Seriously, if I never hear any of those songs again, it'll be too soon.
