I apologize if I've posted this here before, but here goes...
I’m sure that a lot of you have for years lamented not being able to acquire one movie in particular, that was riffed a long time ago, in an industrial park far, far away. I’m talking about, of course the Maltese Falcon of MST3K fandom, ‘The Green Slime‘. In the past, we were told, for the most part that one of the main reasons that it wasn’t ever released was that they (Joel, Trace, et al) were too embarrassed by it. That it was one of their earlier works, and wasn’t very good, in other words it wasn’t, I guess up to the very high standards that they have set for themselves. While this is very laudable, it is increasingly frustrating for us die-hard fans. Many of us would rather watch the worst performance of the CT or RT crew over the best that Hollywood can churn out. This got me to thinking, if the CT crew still feels this way, then perhaps a compromise can be reached. If they can’t (or won’t) make a copy of the original MST3K version, then why not give the fans the benefit of their vast and varied experience, and band together and take a second crack at it? If you’re like em, (and I know I am) many here would snatch a copy up faster than you can sampo. The biggest obstacle, as I see it, would of course be discovering who at this time still holds the rights. Does MGM still hold them, or perhaps, due to the passage of time, have they perchance, lapsed into to public domain?

I would love to see them do Paul Newman's shame, The Silver Chalice. (It's about the guy who designed the chalice for the last supper.) Newman allegedly bought up all the copies he could find and destroyed them. Jack Palance is in it, and is soooooooooooooooooooooooooo over the top the performance has to be seen to be believed. imdb.com/title/tt0047494/One of those classic bad films you usually only hear about, it's time we got to see it in all its glory, and it should be riffed.

Nice find, Chuck. It looks like a doozy. Right up there with The Magic Sword. Only with bible characters.
So the big question is, does McCallum or skyroniter have a copy?

Allright - has anyone else seen "It's Alive!" with Tommy Kirk? I'm watching it right now, and it would make an excellent episode 4 or 5. From the director of "Attack of the Eye Creatures".

According to the CT blogs, writing has already commenced on the next three releases. I would love to learn that a Larry Buchanan movie is going to be one of them. It's Alive, Zontar the Thing From Venus, or In the Year 2889. How about Mars Need Women? On the other hand, we still don't know what the final finished CT offering is and that would be even better.

I have always wished MST3K could have done Trog. You know, the movie with Joan Crawford as a scientist and a caveman with a monkey head. Sadly, it got a DVD in the last year or two, so it's too late for CT. There's also Battle Beyond The Sun. It's one of Roger Corman's "let's buy some FX footage from Russia and shoot some extra scenes and make a new movie"...with the added bonus that the extra footage was shot by Francis Ford Coppola. And it's set in the far off year of 1997. ;D Okay, I haven't actually seen the film, but look at the trailer! Tell me this wouldn't make good riffing (especially the monster which kind of resembles a, um, well, the body part it resembles). www.youtube.com/watch?v=cW5CkHqIh1A

It's a little on the dirty side, but with some clever editing...
... I'd love to see Rock n' Roll Nightmare. From the maestros of Zombie Nightmare.

Speaking of Corman, Battle Beyond the Stars would also make for an hilarious episode. As would the equally awful Ice Pirates or Flash Gordon.
And although I don't know whether it'd be possible to get the rights yet, some of those terrible Critters and Puppet Master sequels would make pretty awesome riffing fodder too. Either of the Dollman films also = perfect.

"Yor - Hunter of the Future" is very much in the vein of "Cave Dwellers." A post-apocalyptic world, a Hero in skins and 80's hair, aliens. It's all there. I actually saw it in a distressed mall theater and was amazed at its ineptitude.

If I may quote Dr. Zachary Smith: "Oh, the pain! The Pain!"

It's probably the ultimate "how the hell did this get made?" film. Giant killer bunny rabbits? As if anyone needed more proof that studio executives did a lot of drugs in the '70s.

"Wizard of Mars" would be good (it shares some space shots with Doomsday Machine though). Also has John Carradine in it.
"BOG" would be fun, "Yeti: The Giant of the 20th Century" would be awesome, "The Sea Serpent" would be cool.
