Maybe it's because that chances are that the only people who wouldn't find any humor in the trailer would be someone who isn't into MST3K?! Each joke was funny, and some were hilarious.
So in my eyes, someone who says "I didn't find the trailer that funny" is either:
A) Someone who doesn't understand the whole concept of making fun of a movie while it plays (MST3K, Film Crew, Rifftrax, Cinematic Titanic).
B) Someone who is a Rifftrax fan, and therfore has to make negative comments towards Cinematic Titanic just to slam the competition.
C) Someone who can't follow the crowd and has to be different. Any subject matter has a few of these types.
As for your comment towards Film Crew or Rifftrax. I myself won't bother watching the Rifftrax movies until they are on DVD. I don't have the time nor the patience to mess around with an audio track with the movie on DVD already. Since I don't watch the Rifftrax crew I don't comment on them. I did watch the Film Crew (and enjoyed their movies), but since they are dead I don't waste time beating a dead horse.
So I watch Cinematic Titanic and when I see a comment that is insane (in my eyes), I respond the way I do.
Since your type of humor is apparently different than most of us Father Mannix (by the way, I just watched "The Rebel Set" last night), would you mind telling me what your favorite MST3K episodes are? This way I can see what your humor level is set by roughly.

Each joke was funny, and some were hilarious. That's a matter of opinion. I didn't find any of them particularly funny. Lots of people did, and that's great, but I didn't. So I have to fit into one of three arbitrarily defined categories to be allowed to not like something? Here are a few, off the top of my head: The Rebel Set(of course), San Francisco International, The Starfighters, Star Force: Fugitive Alien 2, Alien From L.A., Outlaw, Attack Of The The Eye Creatures edit: and Master Ninja I and II (how could I forget those?). Six Eight is a weird number, I know, and there are tons more that I love, but those are some absolute favorites that I can always watch and enjoy, no matter what my mood. By the way, I'm going camping until Sunday, so won't be able to reply to anything until then. Edit: Oh, and I love Quest Of The Delta Knights. Thought I'd post that to show that, indeed, what I do and don't like can be quite a bit different than what most people like.

From the ones listed...I can understand now why you don't like the trailer. In my opinion, your choices would be on my so-so list. Each one of those were very bad movies and the jokes were pretty tame.
Rebel Set was like a dumbed down version of "The Score". That movie started out okay, but after the wife was involved in the travel I knew things were going downhill.
Fugitive Alien 2?! Ooooooooookay
I noticed that nothing beyond Season 6 was listed until your edit for one Season 9 movie.
Were the jokes too offensive in the trailer? Drugs, Masturbation, etc. Do you prefer more family friendly jokes?

Do you prefer more family friendly jokes? You mean like the refueling scenes in Starfighters? A lot of his favorites would be in my top episodes too, and I laughed my ass off at the new trailer, and have loved both of the CT's to date. I mean personally, it's hard to fathom how anyone could consider San Fran International a "so-so" ep, but whatever, everyone's taste is different. Doesn't mean you don't 'get' MST, or you're just trying to be different, or you're a Joel fan who has to make negative comments towards Mike episodes.

I'm going to quote a headshop commercial that aired not long after the Riots here in L.A.:
"Can't we all just get-a-bong?"

Um, to all of the above, I say........... "I like pie".
I am curious how this compare's to Josh Way's very funny "Wasp Woman".

No, I didn't think the trailer was that great either. And that Michael Vick line will date the episode about as much as the Iraq line in Doomsday Machine. Wow, a contempary riff will date this movie. Is that anything like Jon Sununu, Dan Quayle, "soccer teams on a mountain top", "Ricolla!" riffs from the MST3k years? And so on... Well, yeah. Watching the Sci-Fi era episodes and hearing Monica Lewinski jokes is always cringeworthy. I even remember the Brains saying that they tried to stay away from topical and political jokes because it would date the show. I'm excited for the release and will buy it but this trailer didn't really do it for me. Doomsday Machine was excellent and I think it'll turn out just as good, especially after all the good reviews of the live Wasp Women show.

Maybe it's because that chances are that the only people who wouldn't find any humor in the trailer would be someone who isn't into MST3K?! Okay, I know I'm going to hate myself in the morning for getting involved, but really? Holy smokes, the guy just said he didn't like the trailer. Maybe Cinematic Titanic isn't his cup of tea. Believe it or not, this does make him a bad Mstie. Look, guys, I like Joel too. I mean, I really like him. And I want to believe everything he says or does is utterly brilliant. But honestly, CT so far really hasn't done anything for me. I don't really know what the problem is, I just know that I find RiffTrax about a gazillion times funnier. I mean, I'm happy that Joel and Co. are doing this and having fun and bringing joy to so many fans, I just feel pretty "meh" about the actual product. And that's... okay. The Mstie fandom is so ridiculously diverse, you can't expect everyone to like the same things. Some people hate the host segments, while others often watch episodes just for the skits. Some people refuse to watch a single episode featuring Mary Jo, or Mike, or Josh, or whatever. Some people watch certain episodes just because "Joel is really, really cute in this one and you can see his calves OMG". What I'm trying to say is we are not the Borg, and resistance is actually quite possible.

Everything I was going to say has already been covered (especially by quinnmartin and Robyn) so there's really nothing left for me to say except yeah, we're different, that's a big part of what makes this discussion board so awesome.
Edit: By the way, I still intend to check out The Wasp Woman, as the movie is much more up my alley than the two previous CT efforts, I just wasn't too impressed with the trailer.

Doomsday Machine was excellent and I think it'll turn out just as good, especially after all the good reviews of the live Wasp Women show. I thought my sarcastic point was that having some lame topical jokes was more a testiment to the staying power of MST3k than a detriment but to actually proscribe such lasting sentiment to Cinematic Titanic is premature. Ok, let me rephrase that. Nothing has dated MST3k more than its computer jokes on mac/pc wars and the "information superhighway" but it doesn't make it that bad now. They're not funny but it's kind of interesting in a "Who were those guys and why did they think it was funny?" sort of way. But it's crazy to think CT would have the same staying power and impact. I have the same feeling with MST3k's infatuation with Mentos. What's the joke there? I'm old enough to remember those commercials but I don't really see the point. Political is another issue. For example, Frank's mention of George Bush as the President in the Oval Office in the Oozing Skull episode is topical. Making jokes about his intelligence and his war is political. Political jokes tend to age differently {slighty better, I think. Nixon jokes have endured very well, not just jokes made then but new jokes as well} but they also alienate people who don't share those views.

They're not? I guess I need my funny-bone re-calibrated, because I ... oh, never mind. I had a 386, and when I watch those bits, it reminds me of the problems getting games to run on it. But most games weren't available for the Mac.
slip-server...autoexec.bat...LOL.

I thought it was funny when Crow was gloating about having some absurdly low amount of memory running at an incredibly low speed. Megahertz, megabytes. Amazing. What kind of multimedia computer was Crow using anyway? It was a 4x CD-ROM drive with a 32k dial up modem, it's barely one media. Did it come with a hardisk drive or maybe even a floppy and that made it "multi"? Absolutely terrifying that we have come so far in so little time. This isn't quite what you meant, is it? Anyway, I still think the PC jokes were lame even then. You have to a hardcore PC/mac user to even begin to... Ah, right.

Yeah, try getting netware to load in DOS, while still leaving a ceiling of 586k free so you can kick-off a DOOM LAN match over coax token ring!
