X, "boinked" is the understatement of the year.
(And the willowy hipped look was VERY in, wasn't it?)

Hey, who DOESN'T have a human skin lamp?
I can only imagine what parts of the movie they cut out and did not riff on...... cuz what they did riff on was pure nightmare fuel. I cannot imagine anyone watching that movie unriffed and enjoying it.
But what a funny episode!

I may have liked this one the best so far. Some good riffs and a really bad movie that was still somehow watchable. So yeah, this outing was quite good.
(In the horribly creepy movie's favor -- sort of, though not really -- that scene where John Carradine has his servant hop around like an organ grinder monkey before he starts whipping him with a cane is the weirdest thing I've seen outside a David Lynch film)

Okay, I watched it. I know, I'm the guy who wrote this, but what can I say? When it comes to Joel, et al, I'm willing to give it a good chance. LoB held no suprises. It was on par with their previous offerings. Actually, I was prepared to hate the movie (LoB that is, not the CT ep), and with that presupposition, I actually thought it was not super-terrible. Just terrible. On the adjusted MST3K scale of movie quality of 1 (Manos) to 10 (This Island Earth), I give it a 3. The riffing was solid, but still stiff. The first skit was bad--too short and hamhanded. They said he couldn't have gum, but then he did. Uh, hah? The second skit had merit. It played on the movie, had a callback, it was fun, even if not laugh-out-loud funny. It is becoming apparent to me though that the all sillouettes gimmick is very limiting to the skits. I think they should ditch it, although I don't think they will. I don't think we are ever going to see their faces. They even took their stills back off of the intro, which was an odd move. So MHO-- It was okay but still not good. It still wasn't fun. Watching riffed movies should be fun! And for me, I think it may all come down to the movies. If you're going to have terrible, TERRIBLE movies, you gotta really bring the fun and funny. With CTs laid-back interject a line style, I really think the movie has to carry itself. So, I ask, Where are the fun movies!!? Let's have a Hercules or B&W kids running from a rubber monster movie!! Unfortunately, next movie has already been announced and seen by some live, and it is another TERRIBLE, unlikable crap-hole of a movie. I'm already not looking forward to it. Not good. I'm holding out hope for the Xmas movie that's been alluded to.

^ wow this takes me completely by surprise, I never would have guessed you'd feel this way in a million, zillion years! And you were willing to give it a good chance even? (and yes, I'm being snarky. It's a woman prerogative)

Thank you, Pepper. Bob, I don't think you're doing the Titans any favors by "giving it a good chance" and then crapping all over it every time. Just freaking stop watching if it's not fun. You said you were going to stop, so why don't you? And Pepper, I'll buy an extra copy from the Titans to make up for Bob's lost business just so I don't have to read another pseudo-generous Oh-I-so-wish-I-could-have-loved-this-but-everything-about-it-sucks review. It's worth it. This ain't your thing, Jack. Give it up. Fortunately it's my thing, and I'm loving every bit of it.

Hay now, Everyone is entitled to their own opinion here, even if it is terribly, horribly wrong!!!Kidding! Although I don’t agree with him there no reason to get nasty about it. We’re all family here. A twisted, cannibalistic, inbred family of irradiated mutants that sets up road blocks on rural country roads in order to trap vacationers to sacrifice to Ba’al perhaps, but family none the less. BoB3K, I’m suprised that you keep torturing yourself like this. Maybe if you don’t like them you should stop watching? Posting about how much you don’t like CT on a fan board for CT is probably only going to get you negative reactions.

BoB3K, I’m suprised that you keep torturing yourself like this. Maybe if you don’t like them you should stop watching? Posting about how much you don’t like CT on a fan board for CT is probably only going to get you negative reactions. 1) Nowhere in my post did I say that it was terrible or crappy or suXORZ--I said it was okay. And then went on in a very level-headed manner, to say why I only thought it was okay, ensuring to point out that I still hope it gets better. 2) Although this sub-fourm is a CT forum, this is actually an MST3K board and I am a very big MST3K fan. An MST3K fan who has an opinion about some of the former MST3K-cast's new project. 3) Let's all look over at the avatar area, shall we. I've been a member of this board since May 2004 (a lower date than either of the two "snarky" responses, I might add). I'm not saying this makes my opinion worth more or less, but it should make it clear that I'm not some bum that just wandered in and started trolling the CT-lovers. Honestly, if we're only suppose to post reviews/comments that are ultra-shiny-happy it kind of defeats the purpose of having a "fourm." Why not just make one post that says "CT ROCKS!" and then lock it. If you look, I don't believe I have ever once in ANY of my posts said that anyone else was WRONG for liking CT in its current state. What am I up to, 9)? As to why I'm still here, I honestly hope that a year from now, I'll be commenting about how my opinions have changed and that CT has grown into a show I love. Either way, I'll always be a MSTie, and seeing as this is the biggest MST3K site on the net, I'll still be coming here. EDIT: One more thing-- I'm pretty sure that in this great big world of ours, you're aloud to have an opionion other than I LOVE IT WITH ALL MY SOUL or I HATE IT, I'D RATHER DIE THAN WATCH ANOTHER. More to the point, I'm pretty sure you're allowed to watch, and even comment on, a show that you just think is okay.

After Wasp Woman and the excellent trailer, I have to admit I was a little disappointed in Legacy of Blood. Oh, I dont' think CT did a bad job (although, the skits are still pretty bad), just that my expectations were too high. Overall, I'd rate this one as equal to an average MST episode. I certainly didn't hate it, but Wasp Woman and Oozing Skull are higher up on my rewatch list. And I also think CT needs to get some more dumb, fun films. This one was just stupid and sleazy (except for the end, when it went off the rails into goofy). I think they are trying too hard to find bad movies as opposed to "so bad they're good" ones. Are there any unriffed Japanese giant monster movies left? How about Gappa or The X From Outer Space? Heck, it doesn't even need to be giant or Japanese, any rubber monster movie will do. Did MST3K ever do Octaman or The Giant Claw?

Uh, I seem to recall going out of my way to defend your opinion in my post but I guessed you missed that part. Oh well, I’ll play I guess.
You don’t like them and you’ve made that pretty apparent. That’s fine. You don’t have to say anything over the top you convey that message like ZOMFGWTFBBQ IH8Z IT. We get it. The thing is; you don’t need to keep telling us that over and over again in every thread. It’s annoying and you’ve become very predictable in your posting habits here.
Please see above.
Please see above.
Please see above.
No one accused you of this. Stop acting like you’re a victim.
Happy to hear it.
Let me try to explain this to you in a different way –
Let’s say someone doesn’t like MST3K but I love Rifftrax. They like Mike, Kevin and Bill but they just can’t get into the show. If this person kept posting in the different threads over and over again talking about how disappointed he is with the show I would ask him what the hell he’s going here if he doesn’t like it. What would you do?

I posted a single post in this thread that was completely on topic. It was my opinion of the LoB release by CT. The next 3 post were direct responses to my post. Two were negative to the point of breaking forum rules. The 3rd (yours) told the other two to calm it down but at the same time also negatively responded to my post. So, I responded.
I actually think you all are overreacting, which I guess I don't really blame you for after my other thread. But go back and reread my original "review" post. I'm not really that harsh. I say it's okay, say what parts didn't work for me, say what I wish they would do better.
EDIT: I went back and reread my post, and you guys do know when I talk about hating the movie and giving it a 3, I'm talking about the actual movie, Legacy of Blood, and not the CT episode, right? Maybe I should have made that clearer. It's also why I segue into the point about wishing they'd pick "funner" movies. ... Okay I went and changed it to make that clearer.

It seems to me that he's sort of posting reviews for the eps as they come out, and I appreciate that it isn't all praise. We can start a Legacy of Blood Appreciation Thread for that. I've had some of the same critical thoughts about CT's movie selections and occasional "stiffness" as BoB3K has, but I've been a little reticent to post them (kryptos pretty well illustrated why), and even though Legacy of Blood was an absolute nightmare of a movie, for the first time I didn't notice any of the awkwardness from the riffers. They seemed pretty comfortable throughout.
And I'm giddy like a schoolgirl about the fiction evolving around it.

If this person kept posting in the different threads over and over again talking about how disappointed he is with the show I would ask him what the hell he’s doing here if he doesn’t like it. What would you do? I'm going to have to disagree with your underlying premise that that is what I'm doing. Let's look at my posts in the CT forum in the last couple of weeks: I made my own thread about my misgivings with the show. I have a lot of posts in there, obviously, but they're all contained in the one thread and it is the thread's topic. I made another thread that gave the news to those that hadn't heard that Trace had given info on new CT releases. I do mention in a post in that thread that I hoped one of their movies is not a repeat of an ICWXP movie, hardly a bad word against CT itself. And, when someone gave their review of the new Vampire movie and said the move itself was another big stinker I posted with a "sigh...," again hardly an actual condemning of the CT gang themselves. And that leads us back to here, where I started out posting a single on-topic post of my opinion of the newest release, which I will say again is I think not really that negative of a review. If you asked me what I think the overall view of this BoB3K guy's posting is, I think it looks like he is a long time viewer who keeps giving CT a chance, is a little disapointed but still thinks its okay, but mostly seems to be getting bummed by CT's movie selection. (He'd love some more skits, too). I really don't see a guy going from thread to thread in the CT forum spamming here and there that you're wrong, CT Sucks, You all suck, only a moron would watch CT, RiffTrax kicks CT's @ss, get a life you CT losers, etc. etc. etc. EDIT: And speaking of on topic, I'm not gonna say anymore. I gave my opinion and then defended it more than should be necessary. We've already trampled over good input from Melting Man and callipygirl
