Ah, well, I'm going to keep an open mind about this. Skepticism has prevented me from enjoying enough stuff in the past...case in point: MST3K itself. The commercials didn't appeal to me, I thought it was a stupid idea, etc, etc, etc. It wasn't until a friend forced me to watch it that I even thought twice about it. To my surprise, I really liked it. Then it got canceled. Firefly would be another example.
To me, it doesn't matter whether this film has been riffed before. If the jokes are new, I'm game. I need all the laughter I can get.

I'm stoked. As much as I love the host segments from the MST version, the riffing was not the best. I think it has potential for greatness and at the very least, lots of fun. Plus, it's clear the Titans have affection for this movie, so it's like old friends getting together (and mixing it up) again.

But…why?
With the exception of Josh, they've all done this movie before and I think the result is as good as one could hope for from such a dull film. Isn't there another piece of Christmas dreck they could tackle? There's a very good chance I won't purchase this one.
(Also, isn't a version of the MST3K version of this movie still being sold in stores? CT is sort of placing itself in competition with, well, itself practically)

I'll admit, this seems like a weird choice. But whatever, I'll probably check it out even though I've liked that they haven't redone their original stuff.

Strange choice but what a delighful challenge. This could be great fun or a terrible disaster. Still, if they are going to redo something, I'd rather it be a KTMA movie or perhaps something like The Crawling Eye. You know, something that was riffed while NOT on their A-game.
Interesting though, I'm very curious to hear what they come up with.

Simply put, I trust Joel's judgment.

First, there was some debate about wondering if the CT should cover a movie done by those ICWXP guys and now there's debate that they shouldn't have done a movie that was done by MST3k. It's a curious change, going from a general "direct competition would be good" positive tone to a general "direct competition would be bad" negative tone.
I'm looking forward to it. The movie was riffed by them twenty years ago, almost and there will be a completely new perspective {Don't think Plan 9 in other words}. Also, I've never really cared that much for the MST3k episode. As kryptos said earlier, the host segments were a lot better than the riffing.

It's 20 years behind them, and they've covered a lot of ground since then.
Say, YOU cover a lot of ground yourself.

I would watch this film again if the Rifftrax crew redid it as well. Triple play!

This was shown at the Avon Theater as part of their holiday kiddie matinee. (The matinee got kids in the movie house, with a bag of free goodies (popcorn, peanuts, goodies), and ran Christmas shorts, cartoon and a movie. This was the movie one year. Hurray for Santy Claus, PUH-LEEZE!)

I do not like this idea. I was looking forward to a fresh holiday movie. I've seen the MST3K version of SCvsTM so many times, the riffs are classic to me. I seriously doubt they can top the old version.

I wish I could say I'm excited about it. Part of the fun of both MST and CT (and Film Crew back when it existed) was watching a movie that I probably would never have seen otherwise. I've already seen Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, and I've already seen it enhanced by both Joel and Trace (with Kevin tagging along), with jokes contributed by Frank and possibly Mary Jo as well (I'm sketchy on when she started). I really fail to see the point or their reasoning behind this.
I'll buy it of course, to support my boys and the outstanding job they've done so far. Best case is that it may replace my copy of the MST episode, worst case...I still have Patrick Swayze Christmas. I just wish they came up with a new movie, so I could place it next to the MST SCCTM and the MST ep Santa Claus and have a holly jolly christmas this year.
