...Frank did what everybody does when they come to Chicago: he caught a f*cking cold. Did he say he caught a cold? I thought he said he got f***ing cold. Given that yesterday's weather forecast predicted single-digit temps and sub-zero wind chill for last night and today, I thought that if Frank was cold yesterday, just wait! I thought that this movie was in some ways not as bad as the Blood of the Vampires. The actors were (mostly) better, and so was the dubbing. Except for the main actor, Rossano Brazzi. He wasn't dubbed when he maybe should have been; his thick Italian accent made him often hard to understand. Although the idea of Count Frankenstein having a thick Italian accent does contribute to the laughability of the film. In a lot of other ways the movie was just as ridiculous. The plot just didn't make any sense sometimes. What are we supposed to make of the dwarf? He was repellent, but you couldn't help feeling sorry for him. Was that because he was played by an appealing actor, Michael Dunn? It almost seemed as though the film-makers ended up feeling sorry for him, considering what happened to him at the end. As Trace said, how did he rate ending up like that? And what was the deal with the two gratuitous flashes of--well, I won't spoil it. But there were two gratuitous scenes early on in the movie. Then the movie set up more potential gratuity later on that didn't pan out. Did CT edit out later, more revealing scenes? And the ending... that was... something. It felt more like, "Well, we've gotta end it this way because it's a Frankenstein movie." So they kinda tried to make a message out of it or something. Anyway, there were at least two killer riffs in there, one involving a milk bath and one involving the dwarf unlocking a gate. Apparently it'll be a little wait, but I'm definitely looking forward to getting this on DVD.

Those were my favorite riffs to. And the spit take was classic. It was a blast seeing them live!

Those were my favorite riffs to. And the spit take was classic. It was a blast seeing them live! If I hadn't been one of the folks in the front row on the receiving end of Joel's spit take, I would have enjoyed it too! Don't get me wrong. I'm honored to have been a spit-ee, as it were. It just startled me so much, I couldn't figure out what the heck had just happened. The really funny part, though, is that Joel sprayed Mary Jo's back pretty liberally. My husband says that he saw Joel asking Mary Jo afterwards, "Are you OK? I didn't get you too bad, did I?" Ah, show biz. ;D

The title alone is enough to make me want to get this.

Anything with a dwarf is good stuff. But I'm still sad I have to wait for my Filipino vampire movie.

The title alone is enough to make me want to get this. This is how I feel. For me, the very essence of MST3k and CT is in many of the movie titles they chose.

Hey, great! This is due out on my birthday! Cool! 'Course, I'm gonna have to wait for it to arrive... Grrrr. "Frankensteins Castle... " (there's a gameshow in that, somewhere) does seem to have more of the 'Goofy Factor' too, which is great - the CTs so far seem to have more of the 'Oh My God No' factor! Bodes well for future CTs. Can't wait! C.

Downloaded it. Watched it. About on par riff-wise with Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, but with a lesser quality film. Its still a better movie selection than Doomsday Machine and Oozing Skull. I'd rank this ep third behind SCCTM and Wasp Woman.
Spoilers ahead.
Only one host segment again like SCCTM. Josh makes fun of his departure from MST3K which gets a roar from the group. The opening hallway scene didn't add to the story surrounding the CT crew's stay and is instead used to set up a gag I mention in the next sentence. And a censor-minded blimp floats around the screen a couple times.
Extremely goofy movie with cave men running around at the same time Dr. Frankenstein starts performing macabre experiments and ends with a ticked-off midget getting his revenge. I don't recall any Eegah! or Cave Dwellers callbacks being said, but at least one would have been appropriate.
