I've watched this a few times now since receiving it in the mail a couple of weeks ago. A horrible Frankenstein movie starring Rossano Brazzi is exactly the sort of movie I'd expect from CT. The interaction between the performers made this a success for me. They're really starting to work with each other, keying off each other's deliveries and making each other laugh. The laughs are so genuine, it makes me think a few of the jokes may be true ad libs. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Perhaps the riffing is a bit less dense, but the more natural delivery more than made up for it.
The breast blimp was less successful than I think they hoped it would be. It wasn't funny, but at least it was annoyingly distracting. I think in the future, they need to either find a different gag to cover the nudity, don't license movies with nudity, or get over it and let us have the nudity. And considering how beautiful the two women in this movie were, I prefer the last option.

After taking a bit of a break from CT, I finally decided to check out another of their releases and watched this one this weekend. It was pretty funny, but I wasn't blown away by it. To be honest, watching this fairly soon after Rifftrax's Planet of Dinosaurs really made the differences in delivery stand out. The CT film had stretches of good material that made me laugh, but even then, I still felt like the delivery often just wasn't as natural as it should be. There were some exceptions, but it often felt like the group was just reading off riffs for the sake of getting it done. I just notice a big difference with the Rifftrax people: even when their material is subpar, their chemistry and delivery just seems more dynamic. The CT crew just felt like they were there in the background sometimes, kind of detached from the movie.
I don't want to pick on the group - I like the CT crew, and I've enjoyed the releases that I've seen of theirs, but after not having seen them for a while, I was just hoping for a bit more progress from them in terms of the classic riffing spirit.

I must be the weird one on this site then as I've never had an issue with their delivery. While opinions will vary CH, I don't think this was the best one to make a return visit too. In truth I found it one of their weakest efforts. Try out their last one, with the Filipino vampires, IMHO it's their very best. That one might turn your crank to Frank.

Thanks for the advice. It was really a tossup between those two, and I'll check that one out whenever I feel like spending another ten bucks.

Try out their last one, with the Filipino vampires, IMHO it's their very best. On the flip-side, I struggle to make it through Blood of the Vampires. I will say it must be a finer balancing act to fit 5 riffers into the show as opposed to Riff Trax following the trio format of MST. CT has kind of been in a holding pattern for me, seem to be focusing on their tour and, like I said, Blood of the Vampires didn't do much for me, so I took the opportunity to download some Riff Trax, the Alcohol and Emo Maturity shorts along with the Jurassic Park set, gotta have some Weird Al. I quite liked it, especially the Alcohol short. "I hear he likes plaid!". I just needed to mix it up a bit.

As always humor is subjective (for example, I couldn't stand the Alcohol short). But the general consensus has been postive for BoV, not only for the laugh factor but also the majority here felt that the riffers blended well (which adresses one of CHs concerns) so I felt confident recommending it.

Not meant to pick on you, but I disagree entirely on your idea of the 'classic riffing spirit.' I guess to me the classic riffing spirit is funny and directed jokes. I don't like RT's meandering jibber jabber at times. Just saying, what makes 'classic riffing spirit' is certainly in the eye of the beholder.

Okay, that was poor phrasing on my part. I meant "spirit" as in the delivery and interaction, not in the content of the riffs. Just summarizing what I'd said earlier in the post.

I really liked FCoF, to the point where I think it's been their best effort to date. The movie is absurd but certainly colorful enough to hold a viewer's interest. Is it on par with most MST efforts? No way - I'll concede that the riffing does get sparse in parts - but I think there was a more pain-staking process with the riffing on MST3K, especially as they went along in years. By the time it came to the Sci-Fi era it's obvious that BB was making an all-out effort to get the jokes as well-crafted as possible.
