We’re going to try something new here.
This sub-board is designed for members to have their own in-forum blog. Here’s how it works:
If you want to keep a blog for other forum members to read and comment on, start a thread, and post away. We’ll keep your thread active for as long as you’re a member. We thought this might be a nice way for people, especially long-time members, to be able to say more than the usual forum responses allow. We know a lot of people have gotten to know each other pretty well, even meeting in the real world, so this seemed like a nice way to enhance that social aspect of the board. Plus, it’ll be a good way to get to know people you may not know as well.
We do have a few rules and suggestions, though:
1) You can give your thread a custom title – you don’t just have to use your name.
2) You can only have two blogs – one for serious discussion and one for goofier discussions. Of course, if you want it all under one heading, that’s fine as well. We will delete any more than two threads started by one person, however.
3) If you want to comment on someone’s blog, do it IN THEIR THREAD. Don’t start a new thread to discuss what they said.
4) When you have something new to post, keep it in your thread. Don’t start a new thread each time you want to say something. If your thread gets long and you want to make it easy to find all of your substantial posts, you can edit your first post into a “Table of Contents” with links to your various threads. (I’ll try to create a sample thread to show you how.)
5) Please don’t advertise your blog around the board. It’s fine to mention it in other posts if what you say is relevant, but don’t try to draw attention to yourself just for the sake of feeling popular.
6) Please don’t create a thread just to link to a real-life blog you have outside the board. You can always include that kind of information in your signature.
7) No flaming or troll posts. It's fine to disagree or to say something unpopular, but doing so just for the sake of controversy or to cause trouble will get your entire thread deleted.
This is a bit of an experiment for us. I’ll admit I completely stole the idea from Cinematic Titanic’s forums, where it seems to work well. I don’t know if it’ll be popular here or not, but I figured we’d give it a try.
Have fun!
