I taped Sunday's episode of "The Simpsons" and watched it today....was it me, or was it really dark? I mean, it just seemed to me to be kind of depressing, rather than satirical or anything like that. And the whole idea of spiking a teacher's drink....that wouldn't be the kind of thing I'd want my kid doing(if I had a kid or kids, that is.)

Well, I know that in the past, the Simpsons has always taught my hypothetical children to walk the straight and narrow.

I taped that Simpsons too, but haven't watched it yet.
Tonight's The Mentalist was very good, I thought. It featured Robin Tunney mostly, I'm good with that!

Saxondale, the BBC series, on DVD. Pretty funny in an understated British sort of way. I particularly liked the anger management group, in which our protagonist shows every week that he really needs an angermanagement group. Worth three evenings of my life.

The entire television run of Futurama. I'd never been able to get into the show when I randomly caught an episode on TV, but I always thought it sounded right up my alley. Turns out it's the kind of show (for me at least) that you need to really sit down and become familiar with the characters before you can really enjoy it.
I like the way the show is set up - at heart, it has goofy, absurd characters (Zoidberg is the best), but especially in the last seasons, I think the writers successfully managed to put some serious and even touching moments into the show. It's probably not quite as funny as classic Simpsons, but unlike that show, it didn't manage to wear out its welcome with an almost incalculable number of seasons.

It sucks to be me (Primetime network wise)
All my favorite shows are dying on the vine. Fringe's rating are dismal, which is understandable considering how loaded Thursday is with popular shows. But its DVD sales were abysmal as well, which doesn't bode well for even a move to another time slot.
Dollhouse is also crashing and burning. Though the network has been trying to spin things in the positive and promises to air all 13 eps, I doubt we will get a 3rd season.
So I'm left with so/so Heroes, which isn't exactly lighting up my world any more. And CSI, which is chugging away and still entertains, but isn't the show it used to be. It was bad enough that I lost my favorite (Life) last year - guess I just don't think like the majority?

It's probably not quite as funny as classic Simpsons, but unlike that show, it didn't manage to wear out its welcome with an almost incalculable number of seasons. i think you are right about that, captain. i started watching futurama from the start, reluctantly. i was afraid at the time that fox was just easing us into it as they were planning on ditching the simpsons, which i was not ready for yet. the first season of futurama was impressive - the characters were likable, the set up of the story gave endless plot possibilities - but i don't know when it was my interest began to wane. the show seemed to feature more bender episodes than fry - and i wanted it to revolve around him. there were some touching moments (which sounds absurd for a animation series on fox) - such as the one where leela gets stung by the huge space bee, and the story of fry's brother. i'm glad it's coming back, but i don't think i'll watch much of it. did anyone watch the simpson's treehouse of horrors this past sunday night? i taped it and watched it yesterday. i think dial m for murder or press # to return to main menu was the best of the three segments. the zombie influenced don't have a cow, mankind was okay, but nowhere near the hilarity of dial z for zombie from season four. i miss the treehouse of horrors from that time.

I'm watching Ultraman right now. The company that released Ultraman on DVD here in the US a few years ago went out of business and this company MillCreek, which releases a lot of cheap public domain stuff, inherited a lot of their licences and just releaseda 4 disc complete series set for $10!
The image occasionally tiles a bit (squeezing 10 episode on one disc) but hey, it's 39 episodes for 10 bucks!

the BBC series The private life of a masterpiece. BBC does everything but space/cosmology so much better than PBS. These were really wonderful.

What's New Scooby-Doo?
I was just channel-surfing when i caught a chase scene...featuring a song by The Ramones?
"I Don't Wanna Walk Around With You"
That was neat!

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia
I had never seen an episode of this. Then, last night, my cable company rearranged all my channels, so it was chaos on my television screen for a while. Because of this, I ended up watching an episode of IASIP for the first time.
It was not what I expected. I can't say I hated it, but there was something I just didn't dig about it. The whole show seemed like an extended commercial for Sonic where people talk to each other in a car after going through the drive-through. It was like a bunch of those conversations strung together, only lewder.
It's hard to get into anything in just one episode, so I'll give it another shot. If I can figure out what channel I was on last night.

The pilot episode of the new remake of V. I've never seen the original series(es), so I'm only vaguely familiar with the storyline. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed it. Not the best show ever, but very watchable, and I'll tune in again next time.

How could they make another "V" without Marc Singer?

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Season 1 on youtube. I decided to catch up on some old memories from my childhood. I still like the show, but I can't believe how corny it was.
