A dozen action films. They all seemed alike, and I watched them all (along with a couple of action-y TV show episodes) over 6 days, and so I have a single melted plot only in my head now, something like, an alien virus/conspiracy of government/secret organization men are doing something vaguely bad...and the hero, an average-looking guy, who has issues with his dead/famous/absent father, is recruited into fighting and ends up amazingly good at ultra-slo-mo shooting and kickboxing in a week or so. A girl far too beautiful for him (sometimes a Hooker with a Heart of Gold) sleeps with him, goddess knows why. Sometimes a child is at risk. His dog and/or black buddy dies in reel 3. He quips without any drop of wit or originality. A car chase with no connection to the plot occurs every 15 minutes. Any average-looking or over size-3 women are there for "comic" relief. There's a twist that any bright child could see coming from a mile off. Blessedly, six days later, the dang thing ends. Based on a comic book or not.
These things seem to be written by males who have never once touched a real woman, who cheat off each other's D+ papers, and are apparently made for 12-year-old boys to sneak into. If those boys pay too much attention to them, they too will have problems getting laid and end up action screenwriters. Sad, really, a cycle like that.
At some point I began to suspect some of these might have been illegally downloaded (else why the Cyrillic credits in that one?), but they were so awful, I couldn't work up any guilt for that. (they were passed on to me on DVDR's by the mother of a young man who recorded them). I never would have paid a dime to see them--in fact, were I paid 50 bucks to see another, I think I might pass. Unless I were paid 50 bucks and given a hit of Thorazine. Ah well, now I know. And I got a lot of solitaire played while I was watching, for the movies weren't enough to hold my full attention.
On the Outs. I was bored straight.

Snow Angels Nice ensemble cast, including Kate Beckinsale (and a small bit by the guy who played Stanley Tweedle in Lexx). Start off alright, with some nice bits of humor… then the final half goes tragic and bleak and blech.

Punisher: War Zone
This wasn't a "good" film by any stretch of the imagination, but it was soooo much fun! thoroughly entertaining.

Role Models 2008 It was funnier than I thought it would be. And Jane Lynch is in it. She is hysterical. The Zombie Diaries 2008 It was shaky-cam, and I couldn't keep track of who was who, where, or when. Definitely had enough gore. It was ok, could have used a little more cohesion.

Had a nice movie marathon to help keep my sanity while working all night out in the middle of nowhere.
Live Free or Die Hard I like this movie. It makes no attempts to even be serious or realistic, it's just an all-out, goofily over-the-top action movie. I like it more than either of the other two sequels in the series. Holds up very well.
Office Space One of my all-time favorite comedies. I'd heard so much about it before seeing it the first time a few years back, but I didn't think it was that great at first. After some reflection and seeing it again, I decided it was one of the funnier movies I'd seen.
Transformers (2007) I enjoy this pretty well, although I don't think it's great. The story with Shia LaWhatever is okay, but there are great moments with the Transformers balanced out by painful comic relief and the terrible Soundwave Frenzy character. The ending urban battle against the Decepticons is great. Overall, enjoyable.

Saving Grace 2000
An English widow turns to growing pot in order to alleviate her financial problems. A mostly mad-cap comedy that is good fun. Ending was a bit unsatisfying but overall well worth the time.

Saving Grace 2000 An English widow turns to growing pot in order to alleviate her financial problems. A mostly mad-cap comedy that is good fun. Ending was a bit unsatisfying but overall well worth the time. Craig Ferguson is hilarious in that. I love the part where he's sitting on the lawnmower, refusing to leave. I just watched Army of Darkness for the first time ever, and I have to say…well, it was fine, I guess. I can see why it became the "cult classic" that it did, but really, it wasn't that good. There were some very funny lines throughout, and I loved the steam-powered car at the end, but other than that it fell flat for me. Punisher: War Zone This wasn't a "good" film by any stretch of the imagination, but it was soooo much fun! thoroughly entertaining. I almost rented this last night, too, but god, those other Punisher movies have been pretty darn awful. The second one was better, but that first one with Dolph – I could have done without that.

Watched and reviewed SpecialI've waited 3 years to see this movie and I wasn't disappointed when I finally got to it (It came out on DVD this week) It's an odd, very funny but also very difficult to watch in places. I thought it was outstanding.

Slaughter. Part of After Dark Horrorfest III and it's really good. Faith is trying to escape an abusive relationship, so she hooks up with Lola, who shows her a good time. Lola likes having one night stands with guys; problem is that the guys start to disappear. Supposedly based on actual events. Highly recommended.
The Commitment. Horror movie from Thailand about a group of girls graduating from high school who go to a haunted shrine to make a wish. Problem is that the vengeful spirit the girls are wishing to want a sacrifice, the bloodier the better. It was rather confusing in spots but it did have creepy moments. Recommended.

Sometimes I struggle to write a review, other times I write one and think, "that'll do". Then there are times when not only is a review fun to write, but I enjoy reading it myself - and it's usually because the movie got me high in some manner... Such is the case with The Golden BatThis flick features Japan's oldest modern superhero, it stars Sonny "Invasion of the Neptune Men" Chiba and if your a fan of films like that one, or Prince of Space you might want to check it out, because the Bat is better. I've never laughed so hard at a movie that wasn't a comedy (at least without bots and such helping in that regard). Great fun!

Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970) Directed by Russ Meyer
I watched this last night; the last time I saw it was probably 5-6 years ago. I forgot how goofy and entertaining it is. It also has a great soundtrack.

It also has a great soundtrack. I prefer his _Beyond the Valley of the Ultravixens_, myself. More boobs (and bigger), less plot.
