What happened to the Broncos anyway? I mean, they had a pretty good lead for the division, as I recall.

Patriots not in the playoffs= No annoying arse Patriots bandwagon fans to have to listen too. Always a good thing.

I'm watching right now and totally cheering for the Dolphins. Could you imagine a playoffs without the nauseatingly over-hyped Cowboys AND Patriots? ESPN might implode. What will they do if they have to talk about the Titans and the Panthers instead? It could be such a beautiful thing. Ah yes, but now you and I share a dubious distinction as fans. Our teams are now the only two with eleven wins to not make the playoffs. As for the rest, I won't deny that both the Cowboys and Patriots are over-hyped, but at least the Pats usually deliver, I did say usually. Still, once Brady went down, the hype machine was dialed down quite a bit, though I could be wrong given my allegiance. Patriots not in the playoffs= No annoying arse Patriots bandwagon fans to have to listen too. Always a good thing. I too, hate bandwagon fans. Of course, I also have issues with people who hate on actual fans of a winning team, not that I'm saying you are doing so. Now, to summarize the season from a Patriot fan perspective. Loved the Atlanta resurgence, I was rooting for Dimitroff and Ryan. The Dolphin and Jet resurgence, not so much. Brady went down almost immediately, but Cassell somehow filled in. I wanted him cut in training camp, shows what I know. What I do know is that the West sucks, period. I thought the Bills were better than the Jets and Dolphins, I still think they're better than the Jets. I thought San Diego wasn't going to crumble, they did (game vs. Denver not yet even started). No comment on the Broncos. I think Mike Singletary should get a chance to coach SF. I thought, and still do, letting Favre go was the right choice for Green Bay. Don't blame Rodgers, blame the (lack of) defense. The Lions made me ill. The Cardinals are bigger frauds than...some other team(s) I won't mention. Indy may have gotten very lucky a few times this season, but they played through and need to be concerned about in the playoffs. Baltimore almost the same. The Eagles, almost the same. The Giants remain the team to beat, but I could easily see them falter, I have no faith in Eli. The Steelers are iffy, but I never count them out. Conference Championship: NY Giants vs. Panthers Colts vs. Ravens I should add that it's almost worth it to not make the playoffs because we were relying on the Jets. We should have won another game. Yeah, it was worth it to watch the game blown such as it was.

The Lions are now the worst team in the NFL and Savage is gone from the Cleveland Steamers.
I hope they fire Crennel next and give us Cowher and Schottenheimer for coach and GM, respectfully.
And even though my new favorite team Da Bears didn't make it, they are now my fan team because of their rich past and hopeful future.

"I also have issues with people who hate on actual fans of a winning team, not that I'm saying you are doing so."
Don't get me wrong, I have no problem at all with life long Patriots fans who stuck by them in the bad and good times.
What makes me mad are those who were all "Ah screw the Patriots, they stink!" who then flipped to "Oh, I was always a Patriots fan, I knew they could win!" once the Pats started to get real good.

What happened to the Broncos anyway? I mean, they had a pretty good lead for the division, as I recall. Ah, where to begin? The easy excuse is that we have 7 running backs who started a game this year on IR. And the RB we finished the year with couldn't make the 0-16 Lions team. Plus, we can't stop the run, and our best 3 players on defense have been injured most of the year. But that's too easy. For the last decade, there has been a pattern with this team. They dominate the first quarter of games, then slow down and let lesser teams back into games. This pattern is the same way their seasons go. They start 4-1 or 5-2 almost every year, then struggle to finish with 10 wins. They can't close the deal, and I think that's entirely a coaching problem. I like Cutler and the batch of young receivers. But the defense hasn't ever been good under Shanahan, and they aren't dominating teams with their running game like they used to. It feels like the late '80s Elway teams all over again. Fun to watch for a time, but you know there's an inevitable collapse and blowout coming. Boo.

I can't begin to tell you how frustrated I am with the Bucs. A 9-3 start. 9-3! One game from clinching the #2 seed! Then Monty Kiffin announces his move to Tennessee and suddenly the defense allows 900 or so yards rushing over the next 4 games and can't stop anyone from making a catch. They whizzed the season down their leg. Ugh.

Just came over the news: Broncos fired Mike Shanahan. Can't say I'm surprised.

I'm amazed they did it. He's been made of teflon it seemed for quite some time. As for Cowher, as written by Peter King in his MMQBTE column, unless someone throws a truckload money at him, you're probably out of luck. Then again, Parcells could suddenly be available again. There's also Eric Manjerkoff. And speaking of him, it is almost worth it to not make the playoffs, watch Favre whiz another one for the Jets and then get a very nice Christmas gift, as the NY Post said: "Canned-Gini." Perfect! No playoffs is no fun, but it's so close to worth it. Oh, and Samptari, wouldn't Steve be a cool name for a nation?

I think Shanahan finally ran out of coordinators, players and anyone in a close proximity to backstab and blame all of his mistakes on. I mean nothing over the last decade of mediocre Bronco teams was ever his fault.

I remember Deltha O'Neil's last season that Shanahan blamed him for one of their losses and O'Neil hadn't even played in that game.
