Got to level three and joined the MST3K Clan. I just started last night and I'm having a lot of fun : D

I like KoL, but I often give up for long stretches of time. I love the concept and humor, but it seems like towards the end (particularly if you're trying to get some of the achievement-based prizes by doing the quests a particular way), it turns into "click the action button 500 times to finish the quest". Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems like if you want to progress, eventually you're just going to have to sit there doing battle for hundreds of turns, with the same five or ten "you win!" messages coming up after each turn.

I also applied to the clan (as spacecoon) after getting to level three. Great time-waster at work. I haven't played anything like this since I messed around with the Abandoned Realms MUD a few years ago. This seems to be more my speed and intensity

Improbable Island is a KoL-esque game, but the humor can get a lot more inappropriate, so it's definitely 18+ only. Like KoL there are a lot of fun injokes, stupid puns, and references to things -- Hitchhiker's Guide especially. If anyone is interested, I would appreciate it if they used this link, which will give me bonus points for referring them: www.improbableisland.com/home.php?r=jtheMy clan, the Browncoats, is for Firefly/Serenity fans. I just started playing recently and so my clan isn't very active. But it's there.

So, waking this one up for advice, since there's a lot of former KOL addicts around here.
I'm ready for my first ascension, but I'm a bit overwhelmed on the decision front. Should I stick around and try to get to Level 30 first? And if so what's the best way/place to level up at this point? I'm a Disco Bandit, which I love, but I'm thinking I should change up so I can get new skills. Should I try Hardcore or do one at Normal, or even Casual?
What do you guys think?

I ascend like a madman, but that's because I want more permed skills. I didn't start shooting for level 30 or other big-stat stuff until at least 50 ascensions. Leveling up to 30 takes a long time, and possibly a lot of meat.
If you do ascend, casual is a waste of time. Normal is fun, but you can't bring the skills into hardcore. If you finish a HC ascension, then your skills are good in HC or Normal. The problem is that you can't use the Mall or your stash in HC, so it's a bit more of a grind. I would say ascend into HC, and you can drop it if it's not your thing.
But it all depends on what you want. I like the ascension-based prizes more than high-level stuff.

I should play again. I just checked, and, lo and behold, my guy is still there. I was concerned since it's been so long since I logged in.

I tried to pick it back up about a year ago, but the place was absolutely dead, and I don't think I could wrap my brain around the PvP thing in Hobopolis anyway.
Also, most of my equipment is still left over from just after NS13.

I'm having fun on the refresh. It's been so long since I was here last (before NS13) so I'm enjoying the new stuff.
Mr. A, with the Moon signs, are there different quirks with each combination of class/sign? I'm just trying to figure out if I'll have to try all nine with each class.

The moon signs are pretty inconsequential. Other than the special locations they open, there's not much of a difference between them, and no prize for trying them all.
Bad Moon is very different, as it's a type of extra-hard hardcore.

Okay, guys. I'm playing again. If you want to stay in the clan, let me know, as I am one of the only people left in the clan. Planning on gutting the inactives on the roster and trying to restart the clan with some new, active members.

I haven't played in a while, but I'm considering restarting, so I'd appreciate it if you'd keep me on the roster for now.

Grady,
Didn't see you on the roster, or I may have booted you by accident.
EDIT
Yeah, sorry Grady. That's my bad. I sent you a k-mail for when you come back. Just give me a shout when you're up and running again. Sorry again, man. That was not intentional.
