Twilight truly is a plague on the literary world. It's sub-par writing that is filling young girls' heads with an image of unhealthy relationships as something to aspire to. Not to mention its dismantling of vampire lore.
I've been told before that I'm "just not in the target audience", well to me the target audience deserves better. Yeah it's marketed to women and young girls, but this series is an insult to them. It's like saying that they don't deserve good writing so here's this tripe.

It's also saying that that's all they have to look forward to in the way of romance - a pretty guy who stalks you and beats you up. Yep; real Prince Charming there. Just need to try lowering their standards.
I agree, generally; these are horrible books. Why they're so popular, I'll never understand. There are a million things I could list that are wrong with them, but...I'll just say I don't like them.

Wow you're the first female I've met that hates the Twilight books. There is hope after all

What's wrong with the Twilight Zone? Sure, they don't always stand the test of time, and we're all so used to the "twist" ending now, but at the time they were made they were ground-breaking stories.

LOL.
Actually I liked the Twilight Zone back in the day. Maybe the Twilight novels will end up being one long Twilight Zone episode in the end.

I read half-way through Twilight -- couldn't finish it. Aside from the bad writing, the stupid characters and the ridiculous plot, I just found it completely boring. I read it because my friend loved it, and I thought she had a good taste in books, guess I was wrong.

Finally! Women who hate Twilight!
P.S. I like The Twilight Zone. To compare the two things is downright criminal.

A group on a GeoCities page named "USS Sue Destroyer" began to sorta-kinda riff 'Twilight' (having been doing the same to Harry Potter fanfiction and the infamous AVGNxNostalgia Critic slash fic). The site was never rebuilt but, I'm quite certain I saved the images on my desktop somewhere, and am eagerly looking for them.

Finally! Women who hate Twilight! P.S. I like The Twilight Zone. To compare the two things is downright criminal. There's a lot of us, thankfully. Not all women ingest lame domination/emo lustfiction. I tried a excerpt off Amazon and wanted to spew. I'd rather sit on long-dead porcupine while being read poetry by Sarah Palin then wade through that tripe, even to riff it. It wouldn't even be like "Titanic", which was worth sitting through because it was so fun to verbally abuse.

Another Twilight-hating woman here!
I tried reading the first page, just because I thought I'd read it as a joke, and it was written so terribly that I couldn't possibly get through the chapter, let alone the book.
The movie was just as awful as I expected, but I loved the Rifftrax.
What really bothers me is the amount of Buffy fans who have latched on to Twilight. Although the later seasons of Buffy were pretty bad, Buffy to me is kind of a girl power icon, and no self-respecting Buffy fan should put up with this pro-abusive-relationship Twilight crap.
Also, on Buffy, vampires don't SPARKLE.

Buffy's awsome. But I have the puppet Angel as my avatar and sig at the moment, so I might be biased with lust. "You're a wee little puppet man!"
Yet, even still, couldn't get into Twilight. Not a single bit. Though it should be noted that I watched the film instead of reading the book. But I must say I found it plotthin with absolutly zero moments of interest. I tried to watch it objectivly, because the lopsided male-female reaction reminded me of Titanic, which in reality is a good movie, not a great one, but to no avail. Twilight sucked.
But then again, I'm an Underworld fan, so I already have a vampire love story to latch onto. And the pretty boy eye-candy does nothing to arouse me (as opposed to Kate Beckinsale in a tight dominatrix outfit). That's just me speaking as a heterosexual male, though.

I've never "read" Twilight, per se. I read the first few sentences, put it down, and walked away. REALLY poorly written. That's me speaking as an amateur (and I stress the word amateur) writer.
I haven't technically seen the movie either, though I've seen several unintentionally hilarious clips, which was enough to make me stay far away from anything Twilight.
But I'm also a straight, single guy, as well as a literary purist and all-around nerd-king, so that probably affects my opinions.
