I want steroids to become mandatory in professional sports.
I'm not kidding.
Really.
I want pro sports to become crazy over-the-top examples of what the human body is capable of. I want to see robotic prosthetics. I want to see genetic recreations. I want to see pro sports become post-human to the extent that it rivals the best kind of freakishness that Hollywood can come up with.
Seriously. A few of you nostalgic do-gooders are going to say that it demeans the sport especially to young kids playing the game, but, really, it's not like the average kid has a shot at being a pro as it is. So let's be realistic. Let's make the pros commit themselves to their sport COMPLETELY. If they aren't willing to experiment with their bodies, I don't support them.

There should be "natural" leagues and "modified" leagues for each sport.

Like Phil Hartman in the All-Drug Olympics sketch on SNL back in the day I don't know, I think I'm nostalgic in the fact that I like the idea of Mickey Mantle being drunk/hung over during most of his career instead of today's stars with the steroids and the big heads. And whatever happened to cocaine? I'm assuming it's still out there, but man, Doc Gooden and Darryl Strawberry really worked hard at their drug use back in the 80s. Today's players just don't know how to dedicate themselves.

Don't forget the poster boy for cocaine, Steve Howe.

Concerning steroids, I only have 2 things to say...Lyle Alzado and John Matuszak. Have we not learned the lesson yet? Don't know your history, you're doomed to repeat it.

I don't think steroids has any place in the game. I still remember the Sports Illustrated article Alzado did; and Ken Caminiti also spoke out against steroids too.

All kidding aside, I agree. Watching the game now in the "steroid era" is depressing on many levels. Not only does it all seem unnatural, but MLB and the players' union are doing everything in their power to protect them (especially the union).

And that's what I don't understand. I mean, Derek Jeter was asked about steroids and he said "Not all of us do it". Yet the clean players don't criticize their union for protecting the dirty players. Maybe these clean players should speak up.

There should be "natural" leagues and "modified" leagues for each sport. That is a really good idea. I want to see genetic freaks playing against others of their kind. There will be the purists who insist on only watching the natural leagues, but I want to see some guy with a Goddamn hydraulic arm hitting the ball. And you know that his arm isn't useful for anything else, so he just goes home and has to do everything one-handed, because he wanted to be in the modified baseball league. Then he cries himself to sleep every night, regretting his entire career, and then downs an entire bucket of cocaine one night, and never wake up.

I think ALL Cleveland Sports Teams should have access to steroids. Then we won't be saying "There's Always Next Year".

Screw steroids, sports on LSD is the way forward (and backwards through time).
