AWESOME!
I was online through the game talking with my pals back in Nashville. Most of us were rooting for the Saints. It was a lot of fun and an entertaining game.
This was my first time I've watched the SB in ages. The most FB I watched in years as well (due to Favre and my brother) - I had a good time. It was fun being there for my bro, it was fun to see the Packers come back and do so well (next year.... it's ours). It was fun to reconnect with my friends in Tennessee (though sadly initiated by tragedy, the death of McNair). I also liked the Jets and what a great story in New Orleans.
Congrats to the Saints, the city and their fans.

That on-sides kickoff was the surprise play of the century. I had Gumbo at half-time...
Congrats to the Saints.

Nothing like the sheer excitement of a 0-0 tie to rally the viewing audience.

Naturally, for those that know me anyway, I was very pleased with the outcome. I would have cheered for the Saints against anyone though. The lone exception being my own team and even then I might have been a little conflicted.

Nothing like the sheer excitement of a 0-0 tie to rally the viewing audience. And yet it's the biggest sport on the planet and the biggest event on earth.

Those are classic Mr. A. Very funny., What Golf is as an adult, Soccer was when I was a kid. Fun to play, tedious to watch. On the other end of the spectrum, the thrill of the NFL put me through such stress and strain I had to walk away from it for a few years to save my sanity (I am now an older, more mature football viewer. I leave and take a breath when I get too upset). Now that I've said that, I'm going to the Baseball thread and tell them all to suck footballs exhaust! (And maybe someone will post the Simpson's Baseball episode. That was another classic - Cut those sideburns hippy!)

You should be able to enjoy both kinds of football. Watching a 0-0 tie can be just as interesting as watching a low scoring NFL game. There's a lot more going on either both sports than just the act of scoring a goal or a touchdown.
Soccer just doesn't have the clearly defined and regimented structure that American football does. There's no first downs or 5 yard gains or 3rd down stops by the defense. There's a much more obvious sense of accomplishment when Manning hits Wayne for a first down than there is when two midfielders execute a give-and-go to push the ball up the wing in soccer.
But in both cases the offense is moving the ball, yet there has been no scoring.
But baseball is still superior to both kinds of football.... ;D
