I recently purchased the complete Universal Pictures Collection, and I have to say it's been a treat to watch Lou and Bud in all of their glory. Anyone here have an opinion on them?

I loved them when I was a kid, I haven't seen one in years. Buster Keaton was one of the guys who used to write gags for them.

Another unforgettable A&C routine is the Jonah and the Whale routine from their very first movie "One Night in the Tropics".

so far, I've watched the first 12 A&C movies (from Buck Privates to In Society)
the one thing that I can say is a negative about these movies are the musical numbers...they just lack the, what's the word I'm looking for....pinache of the Marx Brothers musical numbers...probably because A&C generally don't contribute much in terms of singing. So far, I'm leaning more towards the "armed forces pictures" (Buck Privates, In the Navy, Keep 'Em Flying) as my favorites.

I love Africa Screams. Joe Besser and Shemp Howard are hysterical. (And Lou's impersonation of Besser has to be seen to be believed.)

I just got The best of A & C Vol. 1. There is an audio commentary on "Who Done It?" by film historian TV's Frank. Anybody else see that.

People remember A&C for their classic routines, but I don't think enough credit has been given to their talent. Particularly Lou. A comedic genius. Just watch some of his takes in Meet Frankenstein, for example. His facial expressions. His timing. His flair for slapstick. Absolutely hysterical.
