It's finally here! The 09-10 season is upon us! Will the Pens repeat? Will Detroit make it to a 3rd consecutive SCF? Who will own the Phoenix Coyotes and where will they be headed? How many Flyers will be suspended this year? (:-p) !!! Discuss. Pens first game is at home on October 2nd against the Rangers. The big screen that is on the front lawn for playoff games will be there for the home opener! Also, this will be the last home opener ever at Mellon Arena- the Pens' new arena opens next year. So it's quite the year for the Pens! Last season at the legendary (legendarily poopie for some) Civic-Mellon Arena. The constant pressure of being cup champs. Losing the shutdown D pair in the offseason... and of course, Malkin and Crosby will most likely be battling it out for the Art Ross. It's a great time to be a Pens fan, and most importantly, It's a Great Day for Hockey!

My guess...It will be Pittsburgh vs. Detroit.
And for Columbus...they may win a game in the playoffs. And I wish that the coyotes get owned by Dan Gilbert of the Cavaliers and he moves them to Cleveland and hopefully they have a good chance there than the Indians and Browns have in my town and the Coyotes in Phoenix.

My guess is Carolina vs. Detroit. We've got a damn good team this year. I'm looking forward to watching all 82 games if possible and the playoffs through the Stanley Cup.
I've got a long way to fall, don't I? We'll probably finish last.

I guess we aren't going undefeated this season.

An overtime win vs. Tampa. We won't lose every game this season. Yay!

So now that the Rockies are out of the playoffs, I decided to check out how the Avs are doing in the new season and HOLY CRAP! We're 4-1-1 and have the most points in the Western Conference?!? There's no way this lasts.

There's no way this lasts. Your Avs are a good young team. They just beat my Canes 5-4 in a wild one. Not much for Hurricanes fans to cheer about so far this season.

I got to see the Pens Blues game on Tuesday night... it was insane how dominant the Pens were... I've never seen them dominate to that level before. It was a beautiful thing to watch, especially up close and personal.
I'm proud of the Coyotes, the lone defeat for the Pens. They've beat Detroit and some other tough teams as well, that's awesome for a team going through what it is right now.

Looks like I need to start broadening my interest a bit if I'm to enjoy this hockey season. Our Stanley Cup run spoiled me.

I'm still shocked by the Avs start. And I'm very hesitant to believe they can keep it going. They have an unproven goalie, young unknowns, and only one guy with legitimate all-star talent (Hejduk), and he's underperformed for 5 years.
Still, it's fun to get excited about the local team again after a few lean years.

Looks like I need to start broadening my interest a bit if I'm to enjoy this hockey season. Our Stanley Cup run spoiled me. Just don't pull for the Sharks - they're the new Senators, you know. I know what you mean - this is already beginning to look like LAST time Mo was our coach and we had a depressing season immediately before his firing. He says all the right things, seems to know what he's doing, but still the results never seem to come consistantly enough for the team. Our ONLY excuse is that we always seem to start our years off slow, so this little trend of ours had better run its course soon if we expect to have any chance at the playoffs this season. [Jim Mora]PLAYOFFS!? I JUST HOPE WE CAN WIN A GAME![/Jim Mora]

The Saints are looking better than ever. In 2006 they made it almost all the way through the playoffs and they are playing better than they were that year. Looks like the celebrations will be going wild as we go through November. I remember in 2006, the cities and stores were dead during that last playoff game when we lost to Chicago.

Canes lost their 10th game in a row last night. Seems like we are following a familiar pattern: finals one year then last place the next.
