ICWXP - Werewolf in a Girls' Dormitory
This is the closest thing to MST going today and it keeps getting better.
We start with the hilarious short "Ghost Rider." NOT starring Nicholas Cage. After a funny, little commercial break we dive into our dreadful Italian feature. Rikk and gang are sharp in their riffing. Spacing is excellent. Expressive with their inflections. The host segments very good to excellent. Any MST fan should buy this and enjoy it.
As Mike Nelson says on the cover "these guys are good - fast-paced, funny riffing throughout. Now, fellahs, would you please stop making my job look easy."

Would it be too pretentious to say I watched the iRiff I produced, say I loved it and highly recommend it? ;D Actually, I did watch the iRiffs by The Spoony Experiment: After Last Season and Captain Z-Ro, Episode 1. After Last Season is almost so ridiculous of a concept (I can't even begin to call it a "film" or "movie") I can't see how riffing can even make it worth watching. Spoony does a decent job, leaning more towards the mocking of what we're seeing (i.e. "The lady is obviously reading her lines from the clipboard" "The MRI machine is made out of paper"), kind of similar to his own "experiments" on his main website, but you have to really be dedicated to it in order to make it through the entire piece. If you're a fan of his work, it should help make it through it, but if not, you probably won't be changed by this film. Captain Z-Ro, Episode 1, however, is delightful and would have fit right at home on MST3K for sheer absurdity and quality writing. Spoony does more of adding hilarious caricatures and "speaking for the characters" humor that lands right on the mark. Spoony also did pseudo-riffs of work training videos for Wendy's, Gamecrazy, and Nintendo Help Desk. He doesn't riff through the whole thing, sometimes letting the absurdity of the video speak for itself, but nonetheless, the videos are entertaining and can be found under TSE Riff Theater at spoonyexperiment.com/video-list/ if you wish to get an idea of what his style is like. May not be for everyone (some people confuse riffing with internet bitching and may feel that way about Spoony), but IMO he's a hoot to watch. And yeah, if you want any other recommendations from me, Terminator iRiff was as fun to watch as it was to make.

We have put up some I-Riffs on YouTube for free. Please check out our site and see if you like it. We are mainly interested in getting feedback that will tell us if we're ready to make the jump into the I-Riffing world. Thanks for taking the time to look - The Hayven www.youtube.com/user/TheHayven1?feature=mhum

And they have indeed improved their riffing skills over the four episodes. Namely, the timing has been adjusted so the jokes don't run into each other as sometimes they did in episode one. Plus they are no longer so heavily dependent on goofy voices to deliver their quips. These guys are maturing and I hope they keep this enterprise afloat.

I just saw Shopping Can Be Fun on RifftraxDIY's channel. I really liked it. I also liked their Curse of Peladon cover. Can't wait to watch more.

The wife and I watched our first iRiff last night.
ICWXP's Lady Frankenstein.
It was...hysterical. We were both blown away by how good it was. Especially the first 3/4 of the film. It slows down a tad as we draw nearer to the end, but overall, it was incredible.
I was awed by the production value, the steady and funny riffing and the overall quality.
So much so that I immediately went and purchased the others available at Rifftrax. Eps 3 and 4 from season 1 and 1 and 2 from season 2. I look forward to watching the rest of these when I get a chance.
Seriously impressed.

This reviewer said it better than I ever could: mania.comAnd dammit, Jim... I'm just a doctor but he's right! ICWXP is no longer just an excellent MST3K homage. It has moved out of the huge shadowrama of the masters and stands on its own sturdy legs. Production values now include HD cameras and expanded sets. Quality time is still spent in theater riffing but more of the almost hour long episode is spent on the Cine-Sorrow storyline. I actually found myself enjoying it more than the theater time. Great stuff. MORE! PS: I am not a doctor so no health questions please. Also I'd rate it higher than a "B."

I thought the Pre credit sequence with Rikk as Dr. Blackwood was hilarious, even funnier than the Soapy death scene from 202 (and I laughed so hard at that I cried). I'm loving the story more and more, so much so that I'm worried about how that will work in with the full length finally!.

Captain Cornelius Cartoon's Cartoon Lagoon 2012
There was a promo for this on the latest ICWXP release that I found funny so gave them a shot. First thing to know... this is no amateur production. Those involved have numerous television and movie credits. But it is an independent production.
Captain Cornelius Cartoon and crew are searching for the worst cartoons ever made. Their submarine is the Manta Ray. Our gang are all puppets with animated facial features. It looks really cool and was the first thing that caught my interest. Their bridge is reminiscent of the SOL. They even enter the theater through a hatch shown closing behind them then its the three of them riffing cartoons.
This first episode finds them enjoying three... a Popeye, Casper, and some dopey undersea thing from the seventies. All apparently public domain and all really awful but with nicely cleaned up video. Riffing is very good, host segments funny.
Obviously a homage to MST and one that I think succeeds completely. The DVD is packed with interesting extras and that's a good thing as the feature might be around 40 minutes long. Read that they hope to get picked up for television distribution. $15 bucks a whack per episode via amazon is a bit pricey but it will be "must see tv" if things works out.

I know... it looks like I'm a paid spokesperson for these guys. I'm not. Just really like them allot and like to toss my support behind things I like. The two shorts "Haunted Mouth" and "Power to Serve" are really turds. What were they thinking? But the ICWXP shine those turds into hilarious gems. There's a WW2 reference in "PtS" that had me spitting back into my cup it was so damn hilarious. Toss in some funny old theater promos and I felt like I got my riffing quota filled in a first class way. What really sets them apart, and I've really grown to like, are the host segments and the expanded storyline. So beautifully produced, full of humor, and its a story that is actually going somewhere. I can't wait to see what happens next. Buy the full DVD for the special features at a reasonable price or get an HD download for ONLY $4.99. Oh fer chrissakes you people spend that much a day on your fancy coffee drinks!
