www.rifftrax.com/iriffsiRiffs launches today. This is Rifftrax' new fan-riffing section, kicked off with material from ICWXP, Riff Raff Theater, and yours truly. Check us out, won't we?

Cool! I'm picking up your shorts right now, Josh.
I'm not sure I like the way that sounds.

I have to get in on this. When I first discovered MST, all I ever wanted to do was get a job at best Brains and riff with them. Then the show was canceled, and my soul was crushed because my dream of being a riffer could never come true (even if it was unlikely in the first place).
But this iRiffs is an opportunity...I have no equipment, no friends to work on it with, and no idea if I even have the riffing chops, but damn it all, I wanna try. ;D

I don't know where I read it but someone was talking about how ICWXP was going to hook up with Rifftrax and this is obviously what they were referring to. I'll be downloading this merry lot after work tomorrow as it's past midnight over here and I'm about to hit bed. Good to see more of Joshway at Rifftrax as well!
Hell I might even give this a go myself if I have the balls...eyeballs...eyeballs to do it! This is why I like Rifftrax. they not only innovate, but like to include the fans if they can!

This is very exciting news. A great opportunity for fans. Congratulations to everyone involved, and I hope this turns into a big hit.
I'd like to take a crack at making a fan riff, if I could team up with someone who had the equipment and technical know-how. I caught the riffing bug big-time after contributing to the Batman & Robin Rifftrax, and I've submitted three scripts to Riff Raff Theater. It's a fun hobby.

For those who are interested in making a fan riff but don't have the equipment, here's all you should need: 1. A headset with a microphone. 2. Audacity ( audacity.sourceforge.net/) - You can record your riffs into this program and edit them to your heart's content. And, it's a free program! 3. Skype ( www.skype.com) - If you want to riff together with people from across the country Skype is the way to go. Again, it's free, and you can riff with your buddies while recording your riffs into Audacity. 3. Windows Movie Maker (Or the equivalent) - The Rifftrax guys are saying that you'll need to come up with a YouTube sample clip for every one of your riffs. I'm fairly certain that Windows Movie Maker has the chops to pull this off. And this program is free on all Windows PCs. 4. Photoshop and/or some artistic skill - The Rifftrax guys also want you to make a poster and banner for every movie that you riff. So, Photoshop knowledge is helpful. That should be just about all that you need. If you already have a headset and Photoshop then you're in pretty good shape. If you don't think you'll be able to record your own riffs but you'd still like to contribute there are other things you can do. Like becoming a writer for someone else's riffing project. Many of these kinds of riffing projects already exist. Most of them will give you a free copy of the riff that you contributed to when it's completed. Just something to think about. I'm starting up my own fan riffing project and I'm very excited at the progress so far. I can't wait for everyone to hear it. And I can't wait to check out all of yours! Good luck everybody!

This looks like fun. I might be interested in doing this or glomming on to someone else's project. I think I have everything on the technical side, but I'm not sure if I can pull off a whole riffing.

Wow! I'd love to do this, but it seems so complicated. Doesn't it though? All the technical stuff seems really daunting, but the Rifftrax forums has a couple of tutorials by other fan-riffers about certain parts of the process. My biggest fear is making sure my track will be able to get synched up properly, but I've been reading and re-reading what they've been doing and I become less terrified the more I'm able to decipher what they're saying. But I'm getting ahead of myself! I gotta see if I can even come up with jokes first! So, I spent this afternoon screening the film I wanna do, and now I feel great. Just watching the film, I was able to come up with some good stuff in my head (at least I think so), so I'm a little less scared about the whole thing. Of course, the real work will begin when I actually sit down and write the thing, especially during the parts where my brain wasn't quipping at a mile a minute! So if you really wanna do it, I'd say do it. Don't think about how scary it might be, just jump in. There's no harm in giving it a shot at least!

I'm really no good with media programs, but this is an incredible opportunity, so I cant let it go to waste. I have no doubt that other riffers will be more than willing to help out. Having until October is also quite nice. There's no way I'm gonna take on the writing solo though, but I've got quite a few MSTie buddies who would also love this. So here goes! Time to start writing!

Ha ha, I'm in the same boat you're in right now. ;D I've selected my movie (Jaws: The Revenge - spoilers aplenty for me!), and have gone through the movie once while jotting down all the decent (in my mind, at least) jokes that came to me on an Excel spreadsheet. (Probably only covered about 40% of the movie, with only 3/5 of the jokes solid in my mind...) And like you, I'm trying to see if I can actually come up with a decent amount of jokes first! It's gonna take repeated viewings, to put it mildly. And I'm hesitant to get other writers to help me, lest I end up backing out due to too many complications...(hate to get them to write for something that won't happen!) Plus, I'm the camp of: Where can I get a decent enough microphone for a decent enough price? 'Cuz the one I have now is all staticky! And who can I get for a riffing partner once this thing IS written? I've been racking my brain for friends and family who have a decent speaking voice and a good sense of humor, etc. ;D And how can I get a full-length recording done without too many mistakes? Yadda yadda yadda. Despite all the "headaches" involved, I'm not gonna let them hold me back so easily. This is something I've been dying to do for a long time, and I'm gonna give it my all. So there.
