I have tried 3 times to watch this and I have yet to get more than 10 minutes into it. I'm going to try again in the next day or two, but this is one tough nut to crack. Sounds to me like having a group watching it with you helps to ease the pain and inspire the riffs at the same time - I know exactly how that feels. Star Wars Holiday Special was a lot easier to get through when I had my family with me complaining about it. ;D That's a great idea, Raja. I'll see if I can come up with something. It's a good way to attack the song. (And does that song ever need attacking!) Glad you like it! By the way, for that same scene, I was kinda hoping that YOU, with your vast knowledge of equestrian sports, would be able to come up with something special for the "Steeplechase Horse-Coaster" they showed a few times during the song. Not to put any undue pressure on you, you see. I'm confident such riffs will occur to you naturally soon enough.

Watched first few parts on Youtube and wrote some provisional gags. A strange beast as there's at once a lot to work with and yet very little!

I made it through about the first half hour writing gags, and my brain started to get numb. My next approach was to watch the rest of it without trying to write, but that made me want to cry. And now the Thumbelina song is stuck in my head. Gaaah!
I was thinking of a similar thing to what Raja proposed, with the two riffers taking opposite ends of an argument. Unfortunately, it would put one of you in the unenviable position of having to defend the sets in the Thumbelina segment. I was thinking what if one of the riffers seemed to totally buy into what (I guess) the filmmakers (term used loosely) were hoping for- that the fungusy bloated fairyland sets would inspire delight and awe. One of you gush about how you're transported to a world of whimsy, and the other voice what is probably the more widely held opinion, that the sets are a load of poo. Any thoughts?

OMG...........I just watched 30 seconds of this on Youtube.....................THIRTY FREAKIN SECONDS!!!!!!!!!!! and I already find myself choking back laughter so hard that tears are welling up in my eyes. I think I have a few ideas, just a few jokes even popped in my head during that first few seconds. I think I'll try my hand at this.

I've been trying to get back to my spreadsheet for the past week and a half and everytime I sit down, some Christmas stuff I have to take care of RIGHT NOW pops up. That and every weekend from now until the end of January is taken with either my wife and I going somewhere or somebody coming to see us. Ugh. The holidays for me are a true Festivus feat of strength! I'll see if I can sneak in some work on this for the next two weeks. I pretty much know what I want to say in places. I have seen the movie about 8 times in the past 3 years. Why? I think one of the 10,000 entities living in my head really enjoys it and gets all Mr. Hankey Christmasy over it.

I'm only about 30 minutes into the script. This one is tough. Are we trying to get it done before Christmas, or is that not an issue?

I don't see any way it could get done that quickly. Maybe NEXT christmas.

Once the scripts are collected R.I.F.F. will have to go through them and cobble together a somewhat coherent riffing effort amid all other projects and whatever life throws at them. It might get done by this summer and then it will probably need to be reviewed and revised. I think November 2010 is realistic.

Skyroniter and DoctorZ hit the nail on the head, I'm afraid. This process takes a while for us, due mainly to the fact that this isn't our day job like those OTHER guys. Yes, despite the fact that we're Government agents, they also make us have day jobs for "security" reasons. Something about blending in with the citizens or something, I dunno. (By the way, I've updated the "Writing Tips" section on the first post of the thread regarding accidentally copying jokes from the Agony Booth recap - it's a trend I've already started to notice with myself, so I'm attempting to give out a heads-up to everyone else!)

Wow, now that was.........................an experience to say the least. I saw it on Youtube last night after I read Agony Booth's recap so that I'll be ready to write when the DVD comes in. It looked like it was filmed by a guy who drives an old van with "Free Candy" written on the side.

Raja, I really appreciate you giving us a heads-up about Agony Booth. I read the recap this morning and it turned out that one of my jokes was identical to one of the jokes in it. It's true: certain setups just inspire certain jokes.
I'd like to encourage my fellow riffers to check out the recap, just to be sure there isn't any duplication. Also, it's pretty darn funny.

Thanks - great minds really do think alike, I think (in this case, at least 3 great minds at once, if not more). Yeah, instead of being all cryptic-like in my post above, I should've just come out and said "try not to duplicate too many Agony Booth jokes," and THEN posted it in the first post of the thread. Thanks for clarifying here.

This may be a little early, but when we upload our Excel files, should they be in 96-2003 format or is 2007 alright?
