Dammit....I need to get back on this. I've only done about half. I think you're right: if there WAS a due date, I would see to it that it got done in time!
But as it is, when I do have free time I think to myself, "Hmmm...do I go watch a baseball game, go to a movie, or work on the Ice Cream Bunny riff..."
I think you can guess what doesn't win out. :-)

I just remembered about this today, and dived back into it realizing Christmas is getting close! I'm just over an hour into it, and it is bone-crushingly difficult to get through. Can't believe there's still a half hour to go.
Are we hoping to have this done by this Christmas? Maybe I should send the script I have so far and then forward the rest if/when I finish.

It'll be a miracle if we can get "Jaws" done by Christmas, much less "Santa." ;D Not that this means Jaws isn't moving along, 'cuz it is. Just got finished filling in some more gaps on it and re-timing some lines, as a matter of fact. As a result, I'm happy to pseudo-announce that there's no reason at this point to avoid setting up a "soft" due date anymore! I'd really like input from the majority of writers though, as far as what kind of due date works for them. Setting a due date for Christmas seems a bit too soon, especially considering how busy everyone will be that month. Sometime early next year, then? What say everyone? I'm planning a much needed vacation for early March, so how about somewhere around the end of February as a place to start? Again, this would just be a SOFT due date, meaning we'll obviously accept anything submitted afterwards, but it gives people a goal to shoot for. I may think of some other benefits for those who submit something by the due date, just to make it a bit more worthwhile. Speaking of which - and even though it seems obvious, I don't think it's been explicitly stated yet - anyone who gets a joke in this script will get a free copy of the riff, possibly along with other stuff I haven't thought of yet.

I like setting a February due date. I work better under a deadline. :-)

I would like to try a hand at this, but I have doubts that my sense of humor would jibe with this movie. Or with everyone else around here. I generally go for the more dark and profane jokes (not that that's all I can do). So even if I cleaned up my language, my input might be going against the grain. I've made no secret that I prefer the Mike years of riffing, especially when they would get nasty with a movie. Mean spirited or not, that is some of the funniest work they ever did. Maybe I will take a look at this train wreck on youtube and see if it's something I could adapt to.
I also find the extra challenge of this already having been riffed by AB a little annoying. To come up with a great joke on your own and then find out someone beat you to it is like a kick in the balls. When reading about this, I told myself that I would do my own work before even listening to what they had to say about it, to keep it as original as possible. But the chance of overlap makes that a moot point. I hope I am not coming off as too negative here. I love this concept and have always wanted to do something like this. I admire Hellcat, Sky, and Raja, and anyone else who is giving this a go.

I didn't realize this had been riffed already. Is this something available through Rifftrax? Well, I'm not going to watch it....I'm not even sure I could watch this one when we're finally done with it! The movie is THAT bad.
As for the riffs being a bit crude, I must say that I've found a lot of my own riffing tends to veer into "naughty" territory, too. I keep it PG-13, though, and try to hint at what I'm getting at rather than being blatantly profane.

We appreciate your interest, Frameous - all we ask is that you try your best with your script, and let us decide what to do with it from there. We can always reserve the right to tweak your jokes to fit our style a bit better if needed. You'd still get credit for the joke idea, don't worry. Like I said, free riffs (and credits too) for everyone who helped. As for what Frameous was referring to with Agony Booth "riffing" the movie, I'm pretty sure he's referring to their TEXT "riff," where they basically type the entire movie's plot, with many jokes written in along the way. In other words, a "read-only" riff. So there's still plenty of room for an audio/visual release out there. HERE IT IS if you want to see what we're referring to - I also have a link to it on the first post of this thread, as a reference. I encourage writers either to read it THOROUGHLY to avoid copying jokes, or to NOT READ IT AT ALL, so that they can plead innocence later.

As every other riffing group has also experienced, RiffTrax is getting their riff of this out first.

They've been having site problems, so it might not be up on the main site yet, but this is what they're planning for their online live show on the 16th this month.

Get your own script ready, watch the other version and take notes on any jokes that are the same or similar so you can change them, then put yours out. Nothing wrong with having an alternate version available. It'll mean an extra step and more work for whoever edits everyone's scripts, but after all the time put into this it'd be a shame to just toss it aside.

Damn...I can't believe I spent all that time watching this god-awful movie, when the RT crew has been doing our work for us. I never did get through the whole thing, but have riffs written through the first hour or so.
Maybe we should just send Raja what we have and then see which--if any--of our riffs are mirrored in the official Rifftrax.
This is kind of a bummer, but kind of a relief at the same time.

Appreciate the update, David and roninfox. One thing to remember guys - we DID always have rumblings of working on "Killdozer" in case this one didn't pan out for whatever reason. Obviously Mike and Co riffing this (which, by the way, I consider to be awesome) won't mean that our project in any way is in vain. If the planned writers wish to carry on, we can act like nothing happened and do just that. I would think the live show will instill some interest in the movie (and the riffing of it), and therefore any fan riffs. "Twilight" iRiffs, for example, have usually fared just fine despite it already being done by Rifftrax. If, however, you guys wanna work on something previously UNriffed, we can always do that too. This project was in its infancy (despite its age ) anyway. Want to take a vote? Hopefully we're not too bummed out by this - better it be announced now rather than after we'd all slaved away on full movie scripts, right?

I'm all for continuing. I already wrote some jokes for the first few minutes of the movie and have even watched it twice, so I'm invested now lol. I just didn't know if you could iRiff on something the Rifftrax guys released.

I'd say keep going. Especially if a few of you have made it fairly deep into the movie.
