I don't really care about NCAA football, but I can't help thinking about TS69 tonight as Alabama beat the snot out of Florida for the SEC title and a berth in the National Championship game.
Roll Tide, indeed.
Roll TS69. Roll on.

I was really hoping Nebraska would win tonight. Not that I have anything against Texas, but because screw the BCS, that's why.
It would have made my day to see the dickweeds behind that system scramble to figure out which non-glamourous undefeated team got the shot at Alabama. And then have to deal with the next 8 months of everyone in the country with more than half a brain demanding a playoff.
Ah, well.

Personally, I was hoping that, somehow, the championship game would come down to some combination of Cincinnati, TCU, and Boise State. The problem, of course, is the money behind all the bowl games now, including and especially the BCS games.

I was impressed by Alabama's victory and also thought about TS69 laughing and enjoying the game. And also like you Mr. A, I was kind of hoping Nebraska would win. I wish that college football would go to a playoff system but don't see it happening because of the money. And let's face it, money talks in college football.
I also want to say something about Notre Dame. I'm not a fan, and personally I think that these "Golden Domers" those who think Notre Dame should be in the national title discussion every year are totally insane. Notre Dame doesn't play any big time programs other than Michigan and USC. I would not want to coach there either, becuase you are set up for failure if Notre Dame's expectations are national champion. Not gonna happen.

I have to agree on the BCS. It's ridiculous. Especially when you hear the extraordinarily bad answers BCS officials give when presented with criticism of the bowl system or a desire for a playoff system. sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/andy_staples/11/18/hancock/This may have been mentioned around here before, but the only argument you need against the BCS is the FCS. It's a football playoff system that determines a champion on a national level. The NCAA already uses it. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Division_I#Football_Championship_SubdivisionIt would be a radical overhaul of the current system for sure. As crowfan said perfectly, the money is entrenched in the BCS system. Would love to see that change. But the 2009 season has been pretty cool. I'm not a huge follower, but some of these late season games have been great. Oregon/Oregon St. and Texas/Nebraska were both a lot of fun.

ND got its new coach. And apparently Brian Kelly has been an outspoken pro choice and pro gay marriage in the past. (He campaigned for Gary Hart back in the day.) This should be fun.

I guess Notre Dame must be really desperate for a coach who can win some games. Back when I was a kid, coaches would have been falling all over each other to work for Notre Dame. Not the case any more. And if Brian Kelly doesn't win, he will be under lots of scrutiny for sure.

Pretty exciting championship game. Good 4th quarter. Tough way for Oregon to lose, though. There are no good ways to lose, but that tackle/non-tackle was brutal.
