Eh, that's just artistic license. When a songwriter tells you he flew to the moon when he saw a pretty girl... he didn't actually do it. I know literally is overused, but it has become a colorful/exaggerated way to make a point. And Bix, next time your bored, go for it. I ran them ALL through spellcheck during the recent move, but have since gone back and STILL found typos I had to fix. Stupid ineffectual spellcheck. And yeah I changed some things during the re-grading project. Even softened some of those reviews where I came off like a crazed zealot. ;D You got it, MJ. I think I'll just PM you on this board. The "Typos From Hell" link takes me to the Cheese-o-rama board, which is scary-lonesome...

Thanks - I've actually got some new memebers lately. It's not a hotbed of action, but at least there's some activity.

I can't see how anyone could possibly mix up loose and lose. I just can't. They're two completely different words. As are the "it" and "there" triads. Personally, I struggle with vowels. There are so many ways to pronounce each, and too few letters to properly represent them, I end up guessing wrong. I also tend to make homonyms of lose and loss.

See, we used to have more letters, but people stopped using þem. Silly people. But if you'd like to join me in trying to get þe English language to bring back þorn, þen I suggest you start using it. We can work on improving þe number of vowels as well, if þere are any good suggestions.

To continue my list of usage errors that make me judge a person who makes the error in a negative way: "nauseated" and "nauseous."

Time jump bump. I see a lot of "loose" use in place of "lose" when reading a comment section on anything. What drives me crazy lately is, I'm seeing a lot of people using "women" for singular "woman". Ugh! WHY! "A women came up to me today..." REALLY?! "Per say". SAY!!!! SAY!!!! Are you friggin' KIDDING me?!!! Okay. I'm good. You all should read, "The Book of 'Unnecessary' Quotation Marks", by Bethany Keeley. I had to buy it. I started reading it in this little gift shop I was in and I was cracking up. On the cover is a picture of a sign that reads, "Fresh Brown 'Eggs'." Hmm. I'll pass.

Also, apparently people don't know the difference between "breath" and "breathe".

Or Santa Claus and Santa Clause... You know there's no such thing as a Santa Clause... One I've run into over the last year is people confusing pass and past. I've read a number of times on Facebook individuals writing "Way back in the pass I used too..." I admit that it could be a Hawai'i pidgin thing since some of my friends and family actually type in pidgin. Another word misuse I see is the switching of know with no.

Necro-bump here, but I'm surprised from all the complaints about the unnecessary use of quotation marks, nobody thought to reference "Manos" The Hands Of Fate.

I hate when someone online uses the correct, past-tense "hanged" when referring to people being hanged, and someone in a comment section inevitably tries to "correct" them by saying, "hung".

Grammar mistakes are one thing, but correcting someone's mistake while being incorrect is annoying. Which is, ultimately, a cautionary tale, as I'm sure I've done this before even if I can't remember when.
