i dreamed my sister and i were leaving a house that seemed to be where our parents' best friends lived when we were kids on the top of a mountain. you had to drive up and down a very long and narrow two lane road that twisted and curved the whole way. my sister immediately got into a car with a guy she went to high school with and they took off. i suddenly found myself in a car alone - that just took off to follow my sister and her friend. her friend was controlling the car i was in from his car. so i was flying down this narrow twisty road at high speed, unable to do anything about it. it was quite scary. oh, also, later? there was a gorilla at a house i went to, to feed someone's dog. i was like - crap, they didn't take the gorilla?

i know nobody will read all this, but i'm going to tell this in one big, long rambling sentence since that is kinda of how it happened. i was looking for something, walking outside somewhere that looked like it was on the other side of the world - enormous fields on squishy, spongy ground. i don't know what or who i was looking for, but as this was going on, i was also watching it like it was a movie. i saw me ask a farmer looking guy something i couldn't make out and he laughed faintly and shook his head and i heard him say, "if it was around here, i would have seen it," and i thanked him quickly because i was embarrassed i looked foolish and kept walking, like i was confident i would find it, even though i knew i was waaaaay lost. i can't describe where i was next, but i looked up and saw who i thought was my grandmother. i called her name in disbelief, but then i realized it wasn't really her - it was like a photo image of her, one dimensional, moving toward me. even though she was smiling and it was a picture i recognized, of course i was freaked the hell out and began to run. i ran in a circle that brought me back to the same place, where i saw the same thing again, only this time i saw her as a photo negative, which made her look grotesque.
i ended up on this enormous piece of manicured land - it was landscaped within an inch of its life, tiptoeing around. i found it led to a road, where i was nearly swiped by a car. to get out of the way of traffic, i walked into some kind of sidewalk cafe, where i was about to take a table when i saw a manager yelling at a server for being rude to the customers. he told her to practice on a "pretend" table, an empty table next to me. humiliated, she pretended to say hello to someone and i said hello back, thinking she was talking to me. we laughed awkwardly and then my small table seemed to suddenly be sharing another table that was full of people and activity. i don't know why i stayed, because there wasn't room for anything for me on the table, but i did. the manager was leaning with his hand on my side of the table, almost in my lap, fake laughing at something a customer said. he kept looking at me, like - isn't that FUNNY!? shouldn't you laugh WITH ME!? so i nervously laughed too. a server fell on his ass from all the activity at the table, and that made the manager laugh even harder, and i heh-heh-heh-d, unsure of what my part of it was and why i stayed.

hope you're ready for the quiz!
last night i had a weird ass dream that i was on a cruise ship, i think with my parents and maybe some other family members. we came to a stop out in the middle of nowhwere and everyone knew we were going to be stopped for a while. i was not nearly as freaked out as i would be in real life, considering the bad press cruise ships have gotten lately.
i was walking around the decks and looked out to the open water. it was a sight that truly disturbed me that keeps flashing in my head today. there were other ships and a few planes - 747's - just abandoned and floating together , almost like they were all hooked up together. it was like a floating graveyard of wrecked and ruined ships and planes. i could see scorched parts of the planes and rusted sides of the ships.
in my dream, i was just like - eh, look at that. where's the sushi bar? but every time i think about it, it just creeps me out.

last night i dreamed i was in a bar talking to someone - they were kind of faceless - and i said that i went on a date once with robert downey jr. in high school. they said "i'll be right back" and left and then returned with RDJ. he told me he was sorry, he only went out with me to try to get close to my best friend. i was so indignant - i was like - you're supposed to be this nice guy, robert downey jr! i always said you were a nice guy and now you've gone and ruined my image of you! he bought me a drink and talked about his grandmother for so long that i eventually got up and said i'll be right back, but i went out the back door and got in my car and left. then i woke up.

^i had forgotten that rdj dream. wtf?
last night i dreamed i was staying in my parents' home while they were away. but it looked nothing like their house. i was in bed either just waking up or about to go to sleep when i heard a sound, looked up and saw a baby in the room. i freaked the hell out - jumped up, yelling - what the f***! over and over. it was a girl, about one year old. i went over and picked her up and she seemed cool with it, despite my freak-out.
so i went out in the house to see what was going on and everything was trashed. i realized the house was being burglarized and she must belong to the people doing it. i saw them - or at least one of them, a woman with red hair, kinda skanky. i started saying, "i've already called the police! you may as well run!" and she did - without taking her baby back.
so i knew i needed to call the cops, but instead i kept walking around, holding this baby, who was not the least bit perturbed, trying to figure out what had been stolen. then i'd realize i put the baby down somewhere and freak out while i tried to find her. once i did, i'd think - okay, call the police - but i'd just start wandering around again. while looking for the baby once, i saw wild animals - lion cubs and wolves, and i thought - oh, great - it'll be just my luck if they got the baby. but i would always find her. then i saw the skanky woman again and thought - dammit! i should have called the police! but she still didn't seem to want the baby back. we were both racing for the house - me, holding the baby and that woman, but i woke up before i knew who got there first. dun-dun-DUN!

I just had a pretty cool dream. It was the future and the dream was about future space travel. People boarded what was basically an elongated bubble. It was kind of grayish from the outside, not quite metallic, but reflective.
It wasn't called a ship it was called an "envelope." Pronounced ON-ve-lope, of course, not the crass EN-ve-lope. I heard a woman's voice over a speaker saying, "Please board the envelope." And people were going on and up a conveyor and they were kind of pulled in via osmosis.
Once you were inside you could see everywhere around you -- you could see the sky and the ground and every angle. There were aisles where people were walking and sitting, of course, but one could see around the sides of those aisles, the "envelope" extended beyond those aisles. There was a section that, to get from one side to another, people just stepped off a platform and floated slowly down and across to the other side, and people could stay there for a while and enjoy feeling like flying once one was in space, because one could see all angles all around.
It was pretty neat.

Okay. I had a weird dream. I wasn't really in it, but I was. It's like it was a movie, but I was sort of all the parts, but not. I don't know. It was inside/yet outside. Like, one moment people were doing something inside a house (looking something like the house I grew up in), but then they were outside, so the floor was like the ground. I don't know, it was weird. Time and space didn't mean much. It kept changing, it didn't start off the way it ended up before I woke up. It was one thing, then it was a whole other thing. The more I tried to remember it when I woke up, the more the images went away from me and my conscious mind tried to fill in the gaps. I'm thinking to myself, no, that's not what happened, my subconscious was going one way, but my conscious mind was trying to put in images that I actually KNOW, but it wasn't quite that in the dream. Hard to explain, but I guess all dreams are. Anyway -- the gist of the dream that was happening right before I woke up was there was this young man who I think was Japanese (? maybe not). He was prophesied to be a reincarnation of this great warrior, or something. He was doing all these tests to see if he was worthy or some such type dealio. He had been taken away at birth, so his mother wasn't sure he was him, if you get me. While he's doing all his tasks, there was this seer that kept getting mixed messages about whether he was or wasn't who he was supposed to be. One vision said he was, one vision would say he wasn't. I'm kind of watching this "movie" and being all the characters at the same time while this is going on. There was another orphaned man who was a really good fighter/warrior who was accompanying him on all these tasks and I'm thinking to the characters - no, THIS guy is supposed to be the reincarnated dude, they were switched at birth. I don't know, it was so weird. But the thing that stuck out that made me write this here is that the man's name was "Bardo." (The first guy, that no one was sure was "the one"). The name stuck with me when I woke up, so I looked up that word when I woke up just for sh*ts and giggles. The word means a transitional phase between life and death, like stuck between two lives; it's a Buddhist term. Whoa. I'd never heard that word in my life. I just thought it was weird that the name fit so well in with what was going on. (Though, probably the second guy's name should've been that, I guess). I just thought it was weird that my mind would pick that name out of thin air when I'd never heard the term. BTW: I'd actually like to see this movie. (Edit: If I had the talent and the knowledge, I'd write this movie myself).
