Heh. Jim Thome in a Twins uniform. All due respect to your son, but I giggle at the thought of all the broken hearts on the south side The Sox certainly didn't deserve to win that way. Ulger clearly should have held Hardy at third with the top of the order coming up. Stupid. But whatever. I'll take two out of three from the White Sox on the road any time. It was actually the bottom of the order coming up. Likely wouldn't have mattered either way, as Punto vs. Jenks isn't a matchup that favors the Twins, to put it mildly. Congrats to the Twins on their first ever Target Field regular season victory. Things couldn't have gone any better today. Oops, right you are. Sorry about that. I guess I'm just already expecting Thome to hit for Punto more than anyone else in that lineup. To be fair, Punto against Jenks is still more desirable than the game ending with Hardy out by a mile and a half at home. I'll take my chances with Punto in that case.

Regardless of that affiliation however, congrats to the Twins on the new facility and locking up Mauer - him being in MN is how it should be, even if I coveted him should he have reached free agency down the line.

My dad and I went to the Padres-D-Backs game on Sunday (lifelong Padres fans, we) and got to see what at the time appeared to be an inside-the-park homerun by Chase Headley that put the Padres ahead for good. (Turned out it was technically an RBI double, with Headley scoring on a throwing error.) Still, there's a cool AP photo of Headley coming home, and you can see me and my dad in the stands (arrows for ID. . .I'm the guy who looks like he's challenging Headley to a fight, and my dad is the one who looks absolutely speechless):

That's a cool pic, mrmeadows. Nothing like a good baseball moment to get everyone fired up. Or flexing their muscles or staring in awe

Go White Sox! 0-12 last night. Sweet.
And on the other side of town, Carlos Zambrano is now going from the Ace to the set-up man...huh?
I thought Chicago was at least supposed to be competitive this year.

They say that every year, but they never are competitive.

I was thinking of taking my son to another White Sox game this weekend, but after 12-0 and 10-2...it almost seems more fun to stay home.

Ozzie Guillen on watching Nick Swisher get all happy after his HR today: "That's the way he is. Good for him, enjoy it. I wish he could do it for me, he was a very horseshit player for me.''
THAT, folks, is why I'm a White Sox fan.

I'm not counting the White Sox out yet. They've had to play a lot of games against the AL East.
Twins are wasting too many chances. I think I saw somewhere that they're 4 for 36 when bases are loaded. Guys left on base, way too high and the pitching is crap, beside Liriano.

And now Mauer is hurt (Ramos seems to be off to a good start, though). I didn't think the pitching was that bad. It's already better than last year. I'm more concerned with Kubel and Span getting their averages up, even though Span has been on base quite a bit.

Yeah, I guess crap is too strong of a word. I must still have that game that Baker pitched in Detroit on my mind. Span seems to be coming around a little, but Kubel is slumping bad, well compared to last year. I would like to see Delmon get more playing time. I'm sure Gardy has his reasons, but I think benching Delmon after a great game in Cleveland and playing Kubel instead was a bad idea on his part. But I'm no baseball expert.

Heh, me neither Kubel has been disappointing, but he had four or five games in a row where he was ripping everything thrown at him but he kept hitting it at people. Young has also had some really strong moments, I've been pretty happy with him this year. And how about that Ramos? The Twins really know how to develop that trade bait, don't they

The Cleveland Indians now have the "Most Hated Baseball Franchise" in the Major Leauges.
They're STILL the butt of Baseball (I think it's because of Cheif Wahoo).
Maybe they should remake "Major Leauge" because of how the Indians are getting treated.
