I'm not sure why Washington pulled O'Day in that inning. I know it's hard core tradition, but I think teams often get burned because they just blindly follow the "we need a righty in to face a righty or lefty to face a lefty" thing. O'Day was getting outs, why mess with that rhythm?
The Rangers got where they are by thinking outside the box with their pitchers – like they've done when they don't worship the pitch count. I hate the way some teams run through their bullpen to get that left-left or right-right matchup. I know the numbers show that's the right thing to do, but come one. I'm guessing most Rangers fans would like to see what would have happened if O'Day had stayed in.

I have the MLB App for my iPhone, so I can listen to local announcers instead of Joe Buck & Tim "In my view" McCarver.
Last night, the Rangers radio crew pointed out that in this postseason, the Giants have won games started by: Derek Lowe, Tim Hudson, Roy Halladay, Cole Hamels, Roy Oswalt, Cliff Lee, and C.J. Wilson. Having seen them play all season, I find that astonishing. And more than a little impressive.

And Texas finally gets one in.
So...bets on Cliff Lee heading out there early tomorrow?

Both teams played well, it was exciting that the Rangers made their debut and the Giants winning their first title in San Francisco.
Now Indians and Cubs...get yourself a World Series Title...soon!

In today's Chicago Tribune, one of the orders of business for their organizational meetings is "Should Wrigley Field have a video replay board?". Shouldn't they try to go sign some players? Or try to find a fool to take Soriano, Ramirez, Zambrano, etc? They found a taker for Milton Bradley, so I suppose it is possible they could do it again.....

Good World Series. Too bad I couldn't watch the final game as I was at work. Can't believe SF pitched that well against the Texas lineup. Impressive.
Congrats, Giants!

Gutted, I only was able to watch Game 3 so only saw Texas win one. I'd predicted Giants in five in a game that me and my mate play every year with a Mars Bar at stake. Winning a chocolaty treat for a third year running!
Kind of glad Giants won it, I like their team. Lincecum is the man!

I honestly think that the problem with the Cubs is that they're too popular. They never have problems selling tickets, no matter how bad they're playing, so the upper management has no real reason to change its focus. I know it's changed hands...but has anything really happened? Rickets hasn't made much noise in the last year. Hendry's still the GM, and now Quade (who? heh) is manager. As long as they sell tickets and make money, the organization doesn't have a hell of a lot to motivate it to make huge changes.

Until they can dump bad contracts, the Cubs are kind of stuck.
Case in point: the Giants won in large part because they put payroll into pitching and found bargains for the starting 8. They brought in Huff for a price, but the rest of the lineup totaled something like $14 Mil. They also had the guts to bench big money busts (Zito) for the sake of winning; something the Cubs just wouldn't do.
The way to a World Series: Pay for pitching, then find high-character, blue-chip fielders. Trying to keep up with the Yankees is a one way ticket to being the Mets.

And, so far, Ricketts seems like he wants to still be the Mets. But they've only had a year. I could be totally wrong...which, when it comes to baseball, I usually am. I'm a Sox fan, after all.
