Both the AVClub and io9 gave it a glowing review, and they are consistently anti-Moffat hangouts. Critics out there seem to really like this season so far.
Maybe it's her character or her accent, but Bill isn't doing much for me yet. And something about her eyebrows is just unsettling to me. But Capaldi is still awesome. He seems to be playing a more mellow version of the Doctor, which I'm enjoying.

They seem to be running on fumes with the stories.
Not really liking Class, either.

I've seen the two-part season finale ("World Enough and Time" & "The Doctor Falls"), except for the upcoming Christmas special. I won't go into detail, but I thought it turned out better than I expected. It wasn't the split decision of last season (top notch "Heaven Sent", train wreck "Hell Bent"), but it still had a bunch of problems. As usual, they built up to a powerful cliffhanger, but couldn't come up with a conclusion to match. Still, the final shot of "The Doctor Falls" packed a real punch.

I think this season they've done sort-of OK in general, but some stories would've been better with, say, an extra twenty minutes or so of plot & character development. And I haven't watched "Buffy th-", sorry, "Class".

Don't like Missy being The Master, and don't really like the idea of The Doctor regenerating into a woman. Was there any indication in earlier episodes that Time Lords' genders are malleable? Is she now a Time Lady? This just seems like a PC thing for "modern" times. It seems it will throw everything off about past Doctors. I have nothing against the actress, of course. She seems perfectly capable of handling a serious/goofy, take charge, vulnerable, lonely alien-type person, but... I guess we'll see where things go from here. There were plenty of strong female characters in Doctor Who, I don't think The Doctor, himself, needs to be female. Captain Jack Harkness: Why, Doctor - helloThe Doctor: Stop it.Captain: I was just saying, "hello." The Doctor: You know, I...don't think I mind. (Of course that could've worked with The Doctor being either gender).

The first references to Time Lords swapping genders happened with Romana's intermediate forms during her regeneration, then with Tom Baker's "his or her" reference to his successor during the build-up to his departure. Later, Sydney Newman recommended that a woman be cast (but not, to use his own words, a "perfect Wonder Woman type") in 1986. But after that, hints have increasingly been dropped since Tennant's run.

did anyone here who are big fans like myself know that Dudley Simpson died this week at flapjacksing 95 years old! no joke he was that old he's now gone but he will be missed.
having said that Paddy Russell also died she was 89 which is also a great age to go out on. for those don't know Dudley did a poopie ton of story's music. and Paddy was one of the Directors of the original show.

The BBC has released a photo of Jodie Whittaker in costume as the Doctor:
As I posted elsewhere, it looks like they're going for a "Robin Williams as Mork" look. And she seems to be expecting a flood.

NuWho fans finally get a taste of that classic series "what in the holy Hell is the Doctor WEARING?!" feeling that fans of the classic series know all too well.

Newer generation Who looks I like the best, (outfit wise) in order: Capaldi, Tennant, Eccleston, Smith. This one is WAY down on the list. In fact, it doesn't even MAKE the list. I think basic black would've worked.
Older generation: I liked the scarf guy the best. Was that Baker?

"I AM younger!" Heh. I'm going to miss Capaldi. (Not so much the writing). But this ep looks fun. I don't know if the new gal is going to be fun, but I guess we'll see. I hope they don't ruin everything. Not much longer to wait.
