In the event that Shout! Factory were to rerelease the Eps that Rhino had already released, would you buy them? Are there any specific reason why you would or wouldn't? Any Specific conditions? I'm not talking about vol 9 or 10, I'm talking about box sets that were in print that you alredy own.
I myself don't know whether or not I would, that's why I'm asking.

No. I think the argument in favor of it would be to support the cause. But, by this point, the Brains have other gigs going. They don't depend on money from DVDs. (And only Joel, Mike, and Jim get any of that anyway, right?) If you want to support them, you're better off just buying Rifftrax and CT stuff.
And I really doubt that people deciding to double-dip would affect final sales numbers in such a way that Shout! would use that continue producing new DVD sets. *IF* they did it, they'd do it with full knowledge that most of the people who buy the new sets already have the old sets, so they wouldn't expect much from it, anyway.
So the only reason to do it would be if you really, really wanted new DVD menu art and the fake movie posters.

Well if they do what the studios are doing -releasing DVDs with different extras, or footage, to force double, even triple dipping- they might get some people to re-buy. If they did something like include a missing KTMA as an extra they'd get me to double dip too.
Otherwise I'd only rebuy if a disc was lost or damaged. There would be no reason to do so otherwise.

For me there would have to be some really great extras to re buy episodes I already have.

For me there would have to be some really great extras to re buy episodes I already have. I'd do that. I think Shout! need some avenue for rereleasing a few of the episodes released by Rhino - a few constitue the series' best and it's a shame that new fans won't have easy access to legit copies.

We've been double dipped already, by Rhino.
The Essentials. You had to buy it for Santa Claus Conquers the Martians, and, apparently for a few lucky ones of us, Shorts Volume 3.
If it was a stand-alone that I already had, no way. If it's in a collection, then I'd have to, to get the others in the set. But I wouldn't be happy about it.

Perhaps if they came out in Blue Ray. But there are still so many great episodes not released that I do not think there is reason for them to.

I suppose I'd double dip for a better looking copy of Merlin's Shop, but not for a whole set of repeats.
As much as I'd rather see Shout spend their resources on acquiring new titles, there is some value in them keeping the Rhino sets available or trying to re-license ones that Rhino lost (Colossal Man, Beginning of the End, etc.).
Actually, I've always hoped Shout would repackage all the Rhino singles into box-sets, because I never bought them first time around. There are a bunch of classics there like Red Zone, Mitchell, Accuse My Parents, Batwoman, etc. But to mix in new with previously released titles would be a bad move.

When did the first Rhino Go out of print? I haven't seen a new Colossal Man in 10 years or so. Right now I don't like the idea of double dipping but 5 or 10 years from now when some of the episodes haven't had legal copies available for 10 or 15 years, it wouldn't be that bad of an idea. Maybe reissue volume 9 with a chosen ep from one of the other sets for people who didn't get a copy.

I'd buy them, but that's the collector in me talking. To really enjoy the rereleases, I'd want something new like extras or similar. I'd love for Shout to release the full Tom Servos Favorite Host Segments as a box (even though it's five volumes), or perhaps themebased collections like spies, 80s action or dumb henchmen. Even if some were already released, if they were in a collection like that it would be a must-buy for me.

Maybe you double dipped, Chuck, but I didn't. To me, it was BS of the highest order. I'd have to believe that since Rhino didn't pull it again, i.e.- no "Essentials Vol. 2", that I wasn't alone in feeling that way and MSTies conveyed their displeasure. Concentrate on unreleased eps SF, then if you think there's a market, go for re-issues, but don't play "Mix and match" with the box sets.

I agree with Beljah. The only Volume I had to re-purchase was Volume 7 which mysteriously disappeared, but is, according to Amazon, on the way.

Perhaps if they came out in Blue Ray. If there's a television series less-neccesary to watch on Blu-Ray than MST3K, I can't think of it. The show's charm has always been in its cheerful tackiness and in the beat-up film prints used for the movies. Who needs to see the Mitchell sex scene in HD?!

Not necessarily the movie segments but the host segments with the vibrant colors would be dazzling.
